If it wasn't true he wouldn't say it over and over, of course.

Feckin long-running lie at this stage, wouldn't you say. Also, go post something interesting Meadow Gifted Roadkill, it's been so long, in fairness. You used to be much less dull.

Being a boss is tough, you're responsible for people's livelihoods.
Striking a fair balance, being there for your staff and leading by example tends to lead to loyalty and a workforce that's motivated

I like to think I'm a decent boss, I work very hard, you work very hard, paid an honest wage, treated with respect and dignity, my word is final, but it Also means something, if I say I'll do something for you, it's done.

I have my bad days, where the pressure can make me be a cûnt, but usually I'm in your corner.

I never got the reasoning behind lazy bullying bosses who don't get their hands dirty. But maybe they're the smart ones.

Funnily enough, I work for the best companies going, pretty much, mainly as I get it done without the drama. I'll hand over the new offices of a company I am proud to do work for that made over €600 million profit last year, in a weeks time, built by yours truly. And without even a flicker of cockery, gee-baggery or ar5e. Sometimes Mickey, it just is what it's said it is. Also, I got paid today, so the whole world can kiss my shiny, golden hole tbh. Hah.

Half of my staff like me, the other half dont. The staff that like me are the hard working and reliable type, been with us for a good long time, the other half aren't dedicated to their work, they put in the hours but only bare minimum levels of work.
Moral of the story is, if you work hard you'll never have a problem with me. If you don't work hard, you'll think I'm a prick and you won't last.

I've been an employee, a manager, and an employer.

In my experience the general management skills some Irish managers, can at times be appalling.

I've seen many resort to manipulation and what they think is clever bullying, to hide their own incompetency as managers.

The purpose of workplace bullying is to hide incompetency.

95% of employees in my experience want to do a good job, it's a matter of finding their particular skills and talents and bringing them out, everyone is different. If you choose the wrong person for the wrong job, or you don't listen to employee feedback and suggestions, you've only yourself to blame as a manager. Listen to your employees suggestions, they are the ones who know their jobs and are actually doing them day in day out. Keep them informed. Train people to work as a team, not against one another, trying to cut each others throats.

You don't have to be their friends, but If you look after your people, and treat them with respect, they will look after you, it's that simple.
