Strong Lifts 5x5 good for weight loss?

    I'm looking for a decent weight-lifting program to go with a lot of cardio to lose a severe amount of weight. However, I'd like to have gain some strength along the way?

    I've read that 5x5 doesn't suit a caloric deficit that is needed for weight loss, but then again I've seen posts that contradict this.

    Should I go with the 5x5 or find something different?

    Your weight loss will be vastly dependent on your diet. If you are a beginner to weight training then you will be able to progress for a while on a caloric deficit.

    As far as a 'lot of cardio' goes, I wouldn't recommend:

    - a ton of cardio on a deficit;
    - a ton of cardio with 5 x 5;
    - a ton of cardio with 5 x 5 while on a deficit:

    Three good training seasons a week; consistently imbibing a moderate deficit while eating real food; lots of sleep; lots of water will take you wherever you want to go if done consistently over a long period. Good luck.
