Hi All my name is Ken and I'm new to Boards.ie

I am wondering what are the legalities of running a fitness class in a county council car park. I am a qualified instructor and have insurance.

Has anyone had experience with this.
    Thanks

You'll have to apply to the council for a permit and they will typically want Public Liability Insurance cover to the tune of €6.5 million in respect of any one incident.

You'll be charged for the use of the space as well. I think DCC charge/charged somewhere in the order of €25 exclusive of VAT.

The council will also designate any area and they might not necessarily allow a specific area you have in mind to be used.

But the first step is to contact the council.

I would have thought it would not be allowed since cars would have to be able to go in & out, even if it was empty 99% of the time they would have to bear in mind its real purpose.

I see lots of groups training in cabinteely park, they look like they are courses you would pay for, not just a bunch of friends training together.

    Thanks Alf Veedersane

    I will contact the council.
The carpark closes at 6pm every evening so there would be no traffic after that time.

I will let you know how it goes
    Thanks for your input
