Exactly how many crashes have been caused by drivers whilst using a mobile? Where are the numbers?
But the headlines takes the heat off Garda corruption ....... especially the top brass.

In the old days there was heated debate about listening to radios in cars ....... 'twould feck up one's concentration!

If the force cannot deal with the crime numbers as they are ...... why make more rules?
Too much government interference in peoples' lives.

Are you suggesting that the force should stop with any and all operations until this corruption issue is over? It's not taking away from the headlines, they are still there, it's informing the public that there is a new operation in force and what it's targeting, attempting to get the public to listen and pay attention to the dangers of mobile phone use.

And it will be next to impossible to give accurate figures in relation to crashes caused by drivers while using a phone, because who will admit it if it's not witnessed by the Gardaí? All you have to do is look around yourself and see how many people who are on phones cause near misses, or drift over the lines, or attempt to pull out of junctions while on the phone, be it on a call or texting.

From reading the comment it sounds like well unless they deal with this or that they should leave all the rest alone. In relation to government interferences this area I am glad they do. Do they go over boards in bits perhaps but from driving I can say the amount of idiots I have seen on phones taking corners wide in horrible. They may be okay some of the time but all you need is 1 time for someone to die. I for one am glad they are clamping down wish they will say clamped down on this and all of these including the people now breaking red light as if 5 seconds after they turn is fine
