Didn't the father say he only found out 4 weeks before it was born?

    Couldn't terminate then!

It's amazing to think this would have been normal in pre agricultural society.

Poor parents more like - it wont be a 12 year old girl who raises that baby.

Grandparents generally play a big role in that these days anyway. This is a non-story really. Does it really shock anyone that pubescent kids are experimenting a lot more with sex these days?

It's kind of mental that so many fools demand that the babby be taken from her right away, while themselves being in no fit state to raise the kids they have.. and that's just going by what's said on flipping Twitter!

it is not the babies fault that they are bad parents. maybe put the child up for adoption since the adults involved are so irresponsible.
I think you're missing the point. Let's not derail the thread with a pro life versus pro choice argument, it never ends well.

im for taking away the child im 24 and in a far better position than a 12 year old to look after it. it shouldnt even be an option for it to stay with the "parents".

They are both below the age of consent. As bad as this is, it isn't statutory rape.

In Ireland, the father would automatically be considered a rapist, and the mother an innocent victim.

I'm not sure if I had actually seen a fanny at 13 let alone stuck my flute in one

The article in the OP states that the under-18 conception rate (in the UK) "remains the lowest since 1969".

A young fella down the road from me got a girl pregnant years ago causing my mother to come out with this memorable statement....
"Jaysus at his age you would think he still thought it was only to p**s through!!!
    He was 17!!! :-D

Imagine if the granny has another kid at 40+. The baby uncle or aunt would be younger than their niece/nephew. Thats too weird.

Statutory rape comes to mind ,

Letting an 11 year old have sex that a ****ing clever idea

Going to a youth detention centre will help the already crap situation here, of course.

It's not the "parents", it's the parents.

Taking children away from young mothers and forcing them into adoption. Yes, that worked our really well before didn't it?

God help all of them, but forced adoption is a sick concept.

To think there was talk of lowering the voting age recently. Imagine, the election posters would start to look like cartoons with slogans like "free sweets for all if you vote me no.1"

    I despair.

its not just a "young mother" its a 12 year old child! her parents couldnt look after her properly what makes you think this child should be left with them??

Plus if the new child had a baby at 12 and then that child had a baby at 12 we could have a great great granny at 51.

I could go on but any more greats added scares me!

My in laws are like that and it's nuts. My sister in law is 41 she's got a 3 year old grandson and a second grandchild on the way. Her ex husband has kids the same age as his grandchildren. I'm the same age as my sister in law and I honestly can't imagine being a grandmother at my age.

My husbands parents are great grandparents in their mid 60's. There's something seriously wrong when great grandparents are young enough to kick a ball with the great grandchildren.

    Don't we all?

It realised when I started getting big bills coming up to Christmas. Though in fairness the missus didn't let on for the first year. By year two my list was getting very big cos I was trying to outdo the kids so she had to have a word. :)

not that weird in my house. My husband was married before and has 2 kids in their late 20s one of whom has a little girl who is older than 2 of ours.

That happened on my road 20 years ago. It was a case of The mother and father having a very late "surprise" baby when their eldest daughter was in her mid 20's and starting her own family though.

Remember years ago I must have been 8 or 9. A boy on my road had his uncle over to visit, his uncle was 3 years younger than him. My 8 year old mind had to go through it mentally a couple of time before it made sense.
It was weird to me even at that age.

but at 2000BC years ago with the average death age of 30 , surely people must have been having babies as soon as they were able to ?

should humans been allowed to reproduce as so as they are capable of reproducing ?

we don't place age standards on animals , as soon as they are ready they are ready

    comments please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we are not animals. pregnancy and labour is hard on a grown womans body, and id imagine even harder on a young girl. its horrible to hear people in support of young girls having children.
