What is your current life struggle?

Seeing as we regularly have threads about obesity, depression, smoking and drinking, etc on the front page, what's something you're having trouble with in life? Doesn't matter if it's small or large, frivolous or serious, can be anything you want.

My current life struggle is the struggle to get fit again. I came back home to Ireland recently from a quite active lifestyle, but in the last few months I've been as lazy as sin, and have put on a few kilos in the process. I used to be able to stay fit from day-to-day activity, but whether it's age, or lifestyle, or both, for the first time in my life I've actually needed to start a proper exercise routine in order to keep the weight off, and my fitness up. And it's something that I find very hard to keep motivated enough to stick to. Haven't turned my back on it yet thankfully, but there have been mornings where I was sorely tempted to pull the duvet over me and go back to sleep. What keeps me going is knowing that my father managed to find the willpower to get fit again in his 50's rather than end up in an early grave, and I don't want to find myself having to make the same choice myself someday.

What about you? Air your life's struggle. Get it off your chest! Maybe get some words of support!

    It's a woman as usual.

It's always trying to get with one, or away from one. But mostly trying to get with one.

Resolving my constant sleep deficit. Figuring out what career to change into and how to go about it before it's too late.

All good apart from that really.

Having to practically to do Harry Houdini contortions in an attempt to get into my knickers - I'm six months pregnant and Baby Merkin hinders my usual flexibility somewhat.

I'm a late developer in terms of driving.
Currently jumping through the hoops in order to get a license.

With the evenings longer, I really regret not learning earlier.
Making up for it now though but it's a frustrating process.

No job, no money (theres €3.20 in my bank account), cant get a job, cant afford to go to interviews, cant afford to have friends or keep in contact with anyone, have no social life, cant afford food or any sort of living so spend most of my time at home on the net, social welfare barely covers the rent for my house in Dublin and moving home would just not be an option as any time spent at home at the moment is hell with family constantly watching my every move and asking everything I do, I feel like im 16 again asking for permission to go to a disco!

yeah, just need a job really...

Just finished my MSc dissertation (won't get the result for a few months and I'm not taking it for granted that it'll pass) and am heading back home tomorrow 'cause I can't afford to do anything else. Home is rural and I haven't learned to drive yet 'cause I could never really afford it.

So I'm gonna be struggling with social isolation and a period of unemployment for who knows how long. This to add to general depression and self-esteem issues over weight I just can't seem to lose.....the next few months are gonna be fun. :(

Trying to forget the last woman who let me down and find the next one. The rest of my life is pretty sweet though, so I can't really call it a struggle.

Last week: Trying to find somewhere to live after going to endless viewings.

This week: Work drying up and may have to jump ship.

    Next week: Who knows.

Once one thing gets fixed another problem props up.

Current struggle is having an elderly mum living alone, 2 hours drive away, needing 2 new hips and not being able to take care of her and having no money to pay for home help - assuming she would let them in the door, which is unlikely. Her giving out to me over the phone all the time doesn't help.

I'd say to the people with no money - it's not a big problem if it's only yourself you have to take care of. I've been broke most of my adult life. There are much worse things. Try to avoid getting into debt at all costs. If you're young, get out there and start living. You will have plenty of time when you're older to feel sorry for yourself.

The way that work gets in the way of living my life - and the 12000 words worth of reports to be done, damn continuous professional development. Curse those who thought of that one and anybody who refers to reflective practice!

Looking after a very difficult alzheimer's father for the past 3 years. I love him to bits of course, but my life has stopped, to look after him. Pisses me off no end, but I'm his son and thats what son's do, isn't it? Thank god my brother lives close by.

What I would give to have exams coming up :)

Finishing one college and getting into another one are pretty much my struggles right now. Getting final assignments done, studying for exams and attending interviews for the next course I want to do.

That said, I spent today at an indoor activity centre playing in ball pools, slides, a bungee climbing tower thingy and obstacle courses, so I guess it ain't all bad.

Struggling to get in shape. I really have let myself get shockingly unfit. I'm waiting for treatment for a medical problem and the potential side effects of that freak me out. I'm also waiting for surgery if the other treatment option doesn't work and that's another nightmare.

Losing weight will make a big difference to both courses of treatment, but I've begun to realise that I've been subconsciously sabotaging myself by not taking the weight loss routine more seriously, in order to avoid the treatment. Have to get my ass in gear.
