I wonder what a 25 year old Irwin would be worth in today's market.

We might get an estimate if Séamus is purchased this summer!

Chances of of Barkley or Coleman leaving Everton for United this summer, CL for Everton or not?

    Nil to zero I'd say.

30 mill easily. Man was a class act. Consistent, only 1% of games were below par.

Could cross, take penos, freekicks. He had the lot.

Coleman is fabulous footballer. Do we need him though? Other areas are fairly barren at the minute and need to be addressed in the summer

I remember his link up with cantona for a peach of a goal. Can't remember who it was against. He was as solid a player as I've ever seen.

No, not that one. Pretty sure it was at old Trafford. Played it to Eric, who then chipped over the defence, Irwin kept running caught it on the half volley. Wonder goal!

Left side is more important, as is CM, and wide midfield too. So I'd agree that it's not priority. I like Rafael a lot, and both himself and Séamus are first 11.

Moyes should be thanked for moving on Anderson and Fabio was pretty much useless to United this season, Valencia was rightfully ahead of him for a right back spot! Them leaving didn't weaken the team at all.

Getting rid of those two, Good Idea

Not bringing players in to improve options, Bad Idea.

Did anyone see the build-up interviews before the Everton V Arsenal game? Everything Kenwright said about Martinez spoke volumes about Moyes. He's so happy to have a manager playing attractive entertaining football and bringing the club forward. Not once did I hear him say anything positive in regards to the previous regime. It was like he's won the lotto getting rid of Moyes and replaced with Martinez the way he was beaming.

The Fans, Players and now Chairman of Everton are so happy to be rid of Moyes it's insane. You'd think he had been replaced ala Pulis in order for the club to move forward. A manager reaching his level and being moved on in order for the club to progress; but no, he was poached and given the biggest job in English football!

You can list all the positives for this season you want, just looking at the table this season will show you how much we have regressed under his stewardship.
I am not an anti or pro anything in relation to Moyes. I'm a United fan that has been concerned since day 1 of his appointment. I've been hoping to be proven wrong and to see what Fergie etc. saw in him. It hasn't happened yet and I don't think it ever will. He just seems so far out of his depth.

I think you are probably under estimating how much of a solid foundation that Moyes left him to build on at Everton, the defensive unit is excellent as a whole.

It allows the team to play the more expressive brand of football that Martinez likes, when he played the only way he knows how at Wigan it had slightly different results i.e. relegation.

He has done a good job this season at Everton, struck gold by bringing in Lukaku on loan and a player like Gareth Barry being available also on loan made the team a much better one this season, for obvious reasons.

Refusing to acknowledge good work done by a previous manager is needlessly petty tbh. It is possible to give credit where its due on both sides

This will always be my favourite. He was having a stinker of a season up that point. what a way to silence the critics (and there were many at the time).

Andy Cole scored a goal almost identical to this one. Never ever mentions it...

He's a natural right full. Just because he's asked to fill in elsewhere doesn't change that.
    Ignore me now ;)

Sweet Jesus, so if a player comes up through the ranks (before he even came to United!) playing on the left it is totally irrelevant as he is right footed so thats where he should play?

    Is Ribery a left winger?
    Is Robben a right winger?

Do you think they know they should be playing on the other side?

How was Fabio useless this season he played 3 games scoring 1 goal. It was criminal letting him go considering Evra's form. He should have been getting the games Buttner has been getting. His performances a few years ago when played regularly is far better than Evra has done in recent years and something i don't see Buttner reaching. Their was no need to get rid of him at all still bugs me.

I would say wing play is different to full back play.
Wingers switch to the opposite side so to cut in from the flank onto their good foot.
    Full backs are different.
Fabio is a right full in my opinion. I'm not going to keep debating the issue.
played right full in a CL final too. :pac:

Ah come now lets call a spade a spade here. Fabio clearly never showed enough to either Fergie nor Moyes to merit a place in the starting line up regularly. He had a good run at RB back in 09 or 11 but injuries and other factors went against him and he was very very poor at QPR and hasn't been stand out in any of the Cardiff games I've seen him in unfortunately. I loved the guy but he clearly wasn't cut out for united.

I've noticed a few journos are saying Chelsea are worried about FFP regulations and might have to sell to fund any incoming transfers post season. If that's true you would imagine they wouldn't want to spend £25m on a position they're already sorted in. Hopefully anyway!

I hope so as well, but with Azpilicueta not being a natural left back and Mourinho not seeming to have much faith in Cole anymore and him also getting on a bit it would still not surprise me if they went ahead and still went for him. Bertrand is out loan at the minute so he may give him a chance next year and put Azpilicueta back to his natural position. Therefore he would have 2 left backs and no need to invest on another unless he does not rate Bertrand. I just hope we can get our business done early this summer and not be dithering around like last year and low balling every time we want a player.
