Working without a hitch so far.

Hopefully it holds up. Delighted with the quality.

Start to finish not a single problem. Pre-show on the PC, Show on the PS4.

Never streamed an event before without a single blip. They obviously sorted out what problems they had so well done to them on that front.

The stream does seem to be a couple of minutes behind TV (judged from reading comments on the thread) - not a big deal though.

I was worried about watching this on the network. Even more so when I had to use a Vodafone mifi. As sky cut my internet Friday instead of the end of month. The whole thing worked perfect. Perfect picture. Delighted.

Glitch yeah but the stream didn't die at all on ps3 for me. Few hiccups like the audio and the resolution dropped to youtube level for a few seconds at time but overall was grand. Wrestling on pay per view is dead now I suppose.

Just watched the ending of the taker/Brock match back again....... At the time it seemed like it went on forever, but watching back it all happened so fast. Overall it was an awesome show, finally a Mania 17 beater on my mind.

Michael Cole when plugging Extreme Rules called it a WWE special rather than a pay per view.

Well done to the WWE the quality was amazing on the network last night. Credit where credit is due!

The whole build up on the network was amazing as well to be fair to them!

Very impressed with the quality. Considering the non stop glitches on main event, NXT etc, it seemed inprobable that it would go off without a hitch. But it did! Awesome.

Yeah just posting to say that my stream was flawless as well.

    Delighted!

Mine stalled a couple of times so I just ordered it. Didn't want to miss anything.

Good to hear it works well, would have been a PR disaster if the network crashed or stuttered all night

The numbers are in for the network. They have 667,287 subscribers right now.

So in the end they fell well short of their break even of a million, and likely would have fallen another 50 - 100,000 short were it not for us determined euro's.

Hopefully in the long run they can make it work but it must be said that this number is very disappointing.

I believe the problem is the fact that half of their fanbase is 40+ and as the age skews higher, the likelihood of subscribing to a streaming service is lower.

Haven't they said a million by the 'end of the year'? Or is that them just changing their tune?

I would have thought that was about right for buys Mania in the US alone. Still have US PPV buys and the rest of the world..

Thought it could have been a lot worse myself..

They have said the goal is 1 million subscribers by December 31st. However, if their biggest show of the year could not pull more than 667,000, I don't see any show out there that will convince all of them to renew and another 333,000 to subscribe.

    Do you?

Seems like an alright number to me, it's new tech and they only had a few weeks to push it. If your early adopters are 670k, I reckon they could get it bumped up to a million for the next wrestlemania.

What I'd be concerned about is September to January. With Summerslam through, there's no historical incentive to renew until the Rumble and you'll get Mania in that 6 month patch too.

    attitude raws maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭cookiecakes

I think attitude era Raw would pull in a lot of subscribers. I imagine they are waiting till most of the original 6 months subs are up to encourage re-subscription. I know I certainly will!

edited to add: not mania level subscriptions but should keep a few.

With the six month subscriptions and no more WrestleMania's new subscribers are likely to only trickle in over the rest of the year. WWE's stock is down nearly 15% at the moment.

I would say the whole six month subscription thing is putting people off. Month to month like Netflix and Hulu etc would be the way to go I believe. Also not having live RAW and up to date Smackdowns hurts a small bit.

The six months subs was to stop people from just buying 'Mania for $9.99 and then unsubscribing. Realistically they couldn't have done it any other way.

If you could sub for the 6 months then just have it on a month to month basis it'd be grand, or is that how it is?

You commit to six months then pay $9.99 per month. You don't need to pay six months uo front or anything.

I don't see many people subscribing and then cancelling so the figure will likely go up. Whilst it is as cheap as this then subscribing is a total no-brainer.

Also I wonder are they the real numbers or are they the typical WWE/Wrestling inflated numbers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 385 ✭✭deano546

Real numbers, they can't mislead their shareholders.

I joined and cancelled after the first free week. Then joined again a different way and cancelled again. Then I got offered another free trial by the WWE so am I counted three times. I used the same address all three times.

You wouldn't be counted at all if you haven't a valid subscription.

But I do I am a paying memeber. That's my point are they using the numbers of people who joined then cancelled and didn't rejoin they were valid members for that free week.
