But I do I am a paying memeber. That's my point are they using the numbers of people who joined then cancelled and didn't rejoin. But they were valid members for that free week.

Anyone who cancelled isn't a subscriber, they wouldn't count.

But they were a subscriber for one week they gave there details and money was taken by the WWE so therefore the WWE can say they were subscribers. The WWE don't have to state they refunded these people. They can fudge the numbers to make them look better.

It says "current subscribers" at the bottom of the press release.

Hmmm let me see this is a thread for fans of wrestling to ask questions and talk about The WWE Network and are interested in all things wrestling! We don't always agree with each other but that's the whole fun of being a fan and part of the reason this thread is here.

Simply put I am a fan and I care about wrestling otherwise I wouldn't be here!

Still didn't answer my original question - why do you care so much whether subscription figures are true or not?

They seem to be expecting people to get out of the 6 month contract if you look at the bottom. Well that's what I am taaking from it.
WWE® NETWORK ON TRACK TO 1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS

STAMFORD, Conn., April 7, 2014 – WWE (NYSE: WWE) today announced that WWE Network has 667,287[1] subscribers and is well on its way to reaching its goal of 1 million subscribers by the end of 2014 just 42 days after launching in the U.S., making it the fastest-growing digital subscription service. This announcement comes following a historic WrestleMania® 30, which aired live on WWE Network as well as on pay-per-view through satellite and cable providers from a sold-out Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

WWE Network launched on February 24 in the U.S. and will be rolled out in Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Nordics in late 2014/early 2015.

WWE Network is the first 24/7 streaming network that provides access to live and scheduled programming, including all 12 live pay-per-view events, as well as the most comprehensive video-on-demand library. Available for only $9.99 a month – with a six month commitment – fans can subscribe to WWE Network at WWE.com. WWE Network is available on connected devices including Apple TV, Roku streaming devices, Sony PlayStation® 3, Sony PlayStation® 4 and Xbox 360. WWE Network is also available through the WWE App on iOS devices, including Apple iPad and iPhone, Amazon's Kindle Fire devices and Android devices as well as on desktops and laptops via WWE.com.

[1] Current subscriber number does not account for potential failures to comply with subscription terms and six month commitmen

I answered you question by stating I am a fan! Also I am a paying member of the Network I would like to know if it will be a sucess or a failure since I am a paying member!

Nearly 700k subscribers would say to me that it's a success so far. True fans will stay subscribed because its a damn sight cheaper than paying 50 dollars a month in the US, and almost €25 per month in Ireland. Just my personal opinion. If they're hoping for 1 million subscribers by the end of 2014, being just shy of 300k short of that target by April makes it seem quite succesful SO FAR to me.

I have been using my Chromecast to watch the Network on my TV but I am finding the Chromecast to be pretty awful tbh. It is losing the connection every half hour or so and then in order to reconnect I have to reboot it which is ridiculous. The only thing it seems to be any good for is playing youtube vids from my Iphone. Looking to get something I can play the network smoothly without having to use my Laptop. Don't have a PS3 or XB and don't want to spend hundreds - came across the Roku 1 2710EU streaming device for £50 on Amazon. Have anyone been using a Roku to play the Network and if so is there any problems? From what I've read the PS3 seems to be the best but I'd rather spend as little as possible. Cheers.

It's been working perfect for me on Apple TV. Picked one up for E90 on amazon last month.

WWE should have chromecast support very soon so you should be able to cast it direct to your tv like the youtube app.

    I don't understand this idea.

WWE's one big draw is Wrestlemania. It does twice what the Royal Rumble does and about 5 - 6 times the rest of their PPV's. They have nothing between now and January that would hook people even remotely as much as WM. So who are these extra 330,000 people that will buy the network for something other than the biggest show of the year?

more stuff from the library? and maybe word of mouth about the network spreading.

The library will draw very little on top of the current subscribers. Nostalgia has a limited shelf life, this is why Classics on Demand essentially died.

I think the key thing is that 3 million households watch Raw each week. 50% of the viewers are 40+ and thus substantially less likely than their younger counterparts to subscribe to a service like this. That means of the remaining 1.5 million households, they are already converting close to 50%, which is actually pretty impressive.

Word of mouth might be good for another 20 - 40k I suppose.

yeah i suppose its hard to see where the rest will come from. They have kind of played their best hand already. Unless they really start pushing network exclusive stuff.

I think their best bet is to try and cut costs and aim for a lower break even point.

The Network is unbelievably cheap. If they make good TV the next few months then they'll get people subscribing. Whilst the second and third tier PPVs don't historically drive great buy rates they're usually selling them at a huge price.

WWE need 1.2m subs to bring in the same revenue as before the network. (altho that can be lowered depending on traditional PPV buys) There are 2/3 million subs now and nobody new is gonna be enticed by WWE Over The Limit etc if Mania didn't entice them. There'll likely be a drop off because post SummerSlam is usually not good.

A week after launch F4W reported 15% of network subs were international. Judging ratios from WM29 (40% international buys) WWE will end up under a million subscribers. I hope they break that because at that number, WWE will not put WM31 on the network.

The flipside of this though is that I know a lot of wrestling fans who badly want the network and until I talked to them last night at our Mania meet up weren't even aware that you could sign up and make it work cos they didn't want to take the risk. The only issue is if they push forward the launch date for other markets, because a year away is just too long for anyone to still care.

Ah sure wrestling fans are lifers (apart from the kids, lol). I think they'll sort out the TV deal for getting raw/sd etc repeats before rolling it out elsewhere

Daniel Bryan's road to Wrestlemania is on at 2 tonight after Main Event.

In the ad it looks like cameras followed him through out Wrestlemania week.

Ill wait till tomorrow to watch at a respectable time.

Dont see why not. I guess they will show what ever they have the rights to. IIRC netflix have the rights to alot of WWE movies at the minute

The last thing I would care about the network getting is WWE movies :P

True, no one would buy it for the movies, though it would make some nice additions to have the likes of No Holds Barred, Ready to Rumble and Suberban Commando up there.

I see on a lot of the sites there is talk now of a price increase to $11.99 or $12.99.

I was thinking that the 667k number might lead WWE to making the network better, adding more Raw and SD faster. Suppose not and they might be eying up a price hike. WWE are probably thinking they can't significantly increase their subs at $10 and can increase it by a few quid without losing too many people.

I can't see any new pricing coming till next year to be honest. If they don't meet the goal of 1 million by the end of the year it will rise for sure, I could see big prices for the International markets. I could it being close to €15 here.
