Hi just wondering can anyone tell me I'm nearly done my first week on Tus placement. When will I be paid? I wasn't told.
Typically, you would start on a Monday. So assuming this is your first week, you will have received payment this morning into the bank account which you supplied them with. Your payment will be every Thursday from here on in.

This should have been made very clear to you from the outset as it is the most basic of information.

My first week I had to collect my final payment from the post office on Wednesday and TUS paid me the same week on the Thursday,
    and every Thursday after that,

And did you collect money from the post office on the Tuesday of the week that you started ? You should have had a few bob to collect on this day.

I'm assuming that you are working with the one organisation ? Those hours are very scattered. If a host organisation approached us with those hours as a requirement, I'd find it difficult to sell it positively to any potential participant. And as for the bingo numbers, well that's just taking the preverbial. Out of interest, what are you doing for the org, more importantly, what kind of picture was painted when the position was suggested to you at the interview ?

I agree, I don't think those hours are reasonable, the organisation really needs two people. Is it a caretaking role?

My problem with all of this is that the role was meant to be a caretaker position and having worked for three years as a caretaker,i had certain notions of what i would be doing.
I was informed that i would be required to work in both youth centres but was given the impression that it would be rare not every week or day.I was given no idea of hours and was told that they were flexible but my impression was i could do 2 and a half days and that would be it.

No mention of weekends was given and bingo was definitely not mentioned.
Tbh when i started i was suprised to find not less than seven guys on tus and fas schemes in the one youth centre, all in caretaker roles.I was under the impression i would be on my own.
They also have a full time caretaker. It was after a week or two that i realized what was going on.They dont employ cleaners and obviously are getting these guys from schemes under the guise of caretaking to do their cleaning.
I have done nothing but brush and mop toilets and dressing rooms since i started. There is also an office there where your asked to wash the cups and plates of the people working in front of them.I also have to empty the dishwasher and wash out the fridge.
On one occasion i was told that i had not cleaned the bowls of the toilets properly.

I'm glad that when I went to the interview and was asked if I would like to work with "youths" I told them I can't stand cheeky little bastards. Also said wouldn't get passed the Garda vetting with my criminal record. Have not heard a word since.

request a meeting with the Tus team leader. Tell him/her that you're not happy with the current working pattern and would like something more regular - suggest your "2.5" shifts. In some cases, the orgs are thrilled with whatever they can get help wise, but don't let it go unactioned for a long period. If nothing can be done hours wise, request relocation.

Yes, double week for all. Maintenance or system upgrades in Pobal (payroll administrators). There will be another planned double week at Easter. Don't get carried away, as next Thursday you will be getting zip :)

Oh, and you obviously should have been informed by your Tus contact.

Everyone got a double payment this week. Unfotunately there will be no payment next Thursday so we cannot go mad with it.

RIGHT - I'm not reading through the whole thread.

I got selected for an interview for TUS, cant express enough how delighted I am, but I have a few questions:

    1. When they say you will pay a class "A" PRSI stamp, what exactly does that mean?
    2. When you finish TUS, would you be back to JSB and living "off your stamps", or JSA, at the mercy of the Community Welfare Officer?
    3. Are you still tied to the CWO in any way, or are you independently employed having a boss, and not constantly getting hassled by the CWO to produce bank statements etc.?
    4. If you get an interview, what are the chances of actually getting a job?
    5. How fast does the whole thing move, as in interview today, job starting when? (Assuming you get one)

I have a big problem with my local CWO, they just wont leave me alone. And its always doom and gloom, threats of prosecution here, accusations of been seen working there, are you getting money anywhere else, show me your bank account, is that change I hear rattling in your pocket etc. >:(

if you get a Tus interview you will be placed somewhere
this could take anywhere from 2 weeks to few months depending on location

you sign off the dole for the tus scheme so you have no dealing with SWO till time to sign back on.
you will have time sheets to be sign by you and and manger of the place you be placed which you just drop in you tus office or post them back etc every few weeks.

only time SWO every asked me about bank statements was the first day when I applied other than That I only ever got asked for proof of jobs applied for every few months.

in your case TUS be nice change for you, 12 month break from dealing with it, The Scheme not too bad either once you get placed some where decent,

you can always ask in the interview ( informal chat really) what on offer in your area and pick one that suits you

the Class A only applies when you total income for the year would exceed a certain amount.

if you only getting the core welfare payment 188Euro you will not pay any tax.

if you getting other benefits with the 188 then Class A may apply depending on how much you are recieving

I went to the TUS interview 18 months ago and haven't heard a word since.

I have been on a TUS placement since October.
Great place, so having a great experience.
I get my full benefit plus 20 each week, so currently 202 euro.
Have been applying for other jobs while on this but to no avail.

I have gotten some letters back stating same so IO'll hold on to them in case SWO wants to see them, although I've never had any hassle.

Only on JSA since Sept 2012 due to personal circumstances.

Have to admit i was delighted to get placement and consider myself really lucky to have gotten the position in the place that I did.

Hope things work ou for you.

I wonder could someone help me with this query - I'm due to finish my placement next month, I'm trying so hard to find employment because I really don't want to be back at home with nothing to do, however before I started the placement, because my husband was working my JA was €69 per week. If I had to go back to JA would it still be this amount or would it be the full amount of €188? since Christmas I have been paying €10 tax per week on my TUS wages, I get take home of €198

If your circumstances have not changed in relation to your husband's work, unfortunately you will revert back to the rate of benefit that you were on before starting on the Programme, €69 p/w. There is a possible option to move to a CE placement for a further 12mths after you complete your Tús placement, if you can find a suitable vacancy in your locality, which would see you stay on €198 for a further 12mths.

Thanks for the reply! do you have to be a certain age to do a CE scheme? is it available to all ages?
