    Personally,
I have no idea why someone would want to dawn a nazi uniform. Even as a laugh at halloween and this isnt about being a 'dry-shite' or anything like that.

The Nazi's were one of the biggest low points in history for humanity. But I can't help but think of Prince Harry when he famously wore one for a party. You could just say its a laugh. But... what happened if someone at that party dressed up as his mother with blood stains all over the dress. Would ol' Harry see the joke? ;)

Or if Prince Charles appeared on the front of the Daily Mail, dressed in his mother's bridal veil.

Given their proximity in history, Id have said the History of the USSR was as bad if not worse, they murdered many millions also, but that kind of thing is fashionable, red badges, che etc, you could don some kind of red garb and no one would bat an eye.
The thing is, even in the UK and here, many people would not have a clue who you were if many of the historical suggestions in this thread were followed.
As for that fella, well his family were around at the time of the blitz and all that, or maybe they are concerned about approval for Nazism among the royalty being visible again?

    Ask Prince Harry

That wasn't the smartest thing Prince Harry has ever done, and I'm sure he regrets it.

Putting himself forward as a member of the master race, with ginger hair and only 1 A-Level.

So a pirate costume is out of the question then?
Not in baltimore Co. Cork....still very sore about that down there. They also hate people driving up and saying "arrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and then driving off.

Would it be ok to go as Kim Jong- Un in your opinion?

I hope you are not comparing the Marshal?

I think people need to get over it at this point. Sure it was possibly the worst thing that could ever happen but how is getting offended going to change anything?

    You're offended, so what?

If someone dressed up as a viking would anyone bat an eyelid despite their history with our own country? I'm pretty sure they didn't just land here and be friendly with the natives...

Shrug it off and get over it, it's not like the person in the nazi costume will be spewing anti Semitic statements or calling for the homicide of every 'non-master' race. It's a costume, not a mind control device.

Folks in Asian countries have an odd way of viewing WW2, think I saw something about a Nazi themed restaurant in Japan a while back.

I don't think it would ever be okay to dress in a Nazi uniform, a bit like it would never be okay to go dressed as a member of the KKK.

Unless you're in Ohio and your name is Brandenburg. Let's not forget the Americans obsession with protecting free speech at literally all costs.

    The Soldatenkaffeein in Indonesia http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/07/21/nazi-themed-restaurant-complete-with-hitler-memorabilia-and-waiters-in-ss-uniforms-sparks-outrage/

There's also The Hitler's Cross in Mumbai http://www.damncoolpictures.com/2010/03/hitler-themed-bars-and-restaurants-in.html

There's also a chain of Hitler bars in South Korea.

Wonder if the Nazis ever did find that guy they were looking for...

    SEEK KiLE!

You'd have to question the motives of the wearer, do they actually support genocide or some supremacist view, or do they just like the style, is it a bit of both, possibly used as a means of attention.

In the end i think based on peoples reactions it wouldnt be a good idea unless you were with people that knew your character already and knew you werent associated with any nazi ideology or racism.

    Why would you want to?

It seems to me people deliberately go out of their way with this sort of ****.

Is it too soon? What's your opinion?

My opinion would be that enough time has elapsed so that it's ok to now dress up in a nazi uniform for a fancy dress party.

What exactly is a "nazi" uniform?

Lol at the bolded bit compared to what comes after. :pac:
People can't help how they feel. Telling people to "get over" stuff is forcing your views on them.
The viking era was a millennium ago. The nazi regime ended not even 70 years ago and some survivors are still alive (as well as the next generations being affected).
People can wear a nazi (SS for the pedants) uniform just for the attention if they want, but others can express why they think it's a bit of a pathetic move.

People who dress as Nazis are attention seeking douches.
Yeah, why can't they dress like a granny being piggy backed or a sexy nun like normal people?

Or neither, Nazi's are the modern day boogy man, they've been elevated to the position of supernatural, evil monsters at this stage. Is it wrong to dress as a cat burglar because people are still getting robbed?

I suppose it's wrong for one group of lads to dress as American soldiers and another group of lads to dress as al qaeda and chase each other all over town having a water gun fight. It's probably also wrong for the Americans to check every car that passes through town for IEDs and end the night by renditioning Mr T.

Some very popular Japanese Visual Kei bands had the habit of dressing up in Nazi uniforms on stage and in some videos, although it is not as popular as it was these days.

You could wear the uniform, but instead of the swastika armband, you could get a Pink Floyd hammers one.

Even though logically you can argue it doesnt make sense, you cant argue it wont upset people.

Whats the problem, i was merely thinking of the morality of it, not implying people who dress up for the laugh are actually neo-nazis.
