Is it too soon? What's your opinion?

My opinion would be that enough time has elapsed so that it's ok to now dress up in a nazi uniform for a fancy dress party.

I don't think it would ever be okay to dress in a Nazi uniform, a bit like it would never be okay to go dressed as a member of the KKK.

Probably some of the sharpest outfits ever.
It's a pity they are blackened and so can't be worn more.

Not too soon, too late. I think there was something to be said of it in 50's and 60's when the first non-war generations were wearing them as a shock to the prevailing system in highlighting the authoritarian approach being taken by contrasting it to the fascism that that very system had fought against.

Now you just look like a nobber.

It's ok to dress up as a Roman General and they butchered many innocent civilians.

What if you went as a zombie Nazi or a ghost who is commonly mistaken as a member of the KKK?

Depends on the party. If it is for example, an upcoming work fancy dress party, then it's a terrible idea. But if you are planning ahead for Halloween, then go for it. Halloween is a free for all.

Did the uniform / symbol kill people ? No It's associated with people that did all the killing

It's an interesting debate. Dressing up should be fun, and shouldn't offend. Dressing up as a Nazi is in a sense making light of the Nazis and what they did. Would people ever consider pulling on a pair of striped pyjamas and gooing as a holocaust victim? No. So why should it be OK to dress as the perpetrators.

If you have to ask "is this OK?" then the answer is no.

You know what! screw what people think ( too ****ing sensitive ) !!! Nazi uniform will be hot even with the leather coat and whip, Prince Harry doesn't give a **** what people think that's why he had it on . look up all those cosplayers ones too.

Whatever you do, don't wear a onesie.

"Oh you're a tiger. Well, you're wearing nothing but socks and jocks while sweating buckets in a tiger onesie. That's nice."

You could always wear a Skull mask painted red with the uniform

Or claim you are dressed as "the good nazi": Oscar Schilndler ...

We could do this all day I doubt any military uniform in history has not committed an atrocity of some kind or another. Their all worn by people who job it is to kill other people.

Apparently not is anything. I'm sure some serial killer killed loads of people wearing jeans for example. But people still wear them

Did pirates commit anything on the same scale as the holocaust?

As I said it's an interesting debate, as time definitely comes into the issue. Pirates is also an interesting because there really are two versions of pirates in today's society, the treasure hunters and Jack Sparrows of fiction and popular culture and of course the reality which still goes on today.

Personally I think it's too soon, and I think if the OP has to ask then he/she knows it too. Why risk a potentially awkward situation?

Dressing up in a costume does not make you a Nazi or a murderer. Is dressing up as a priest ok ?

But you cant separate a military uniform from People who did all the killing. If they all wore pink tracksuits they would still have been Nazis and killed.

That's different. I don't think it's possible for anyone to see the Nazi uniform and not think of / remember the holocaust, that doesn't mean I think people who wear the uniform to a fancy dress are Nazis.

However people can see a pirate costume and the only thing that will cross their mind is Captain Hook or Captain Morgan.

So all the murdering, rape, pillaging is ok because Disney made them loveable ?

It's about association. The Nazi uniform will always be associated with the holocaust. Pirates however (yes thanks to Barrie and Disney) are now associated with adventure, fun, and treasure hunting. I'm not saying that's right, I'm saying that's how it is.
