    Yea, got hell with joint ill until I changed to hibitane+, have to get it from a vet and mix it 10parts water, 1part hibitane +,
    however if iodines working....., don't change

    Never had an issue with JI in the flock that I can remember. I use the iodine more as a precaution than anything, prevention being better than cure and all that. This year I haven't bought any Spectam, first time not using it in a fair while, but lambing outdoors I'm not sure it's necessary. Had I been lambing in the tunnel I would have bought some I think.

    Bought some spectam yesterday for the first time ever. Lost a lamb to a bad scour, want in time with the spectam. So all others will get a shot of it now.

    Ye he s actually a twin on creep 42 kilos at 75 days, brother 40 kgs. Have another fella 46 kilos single . They re by a ram I bought 2 ewes inlamb too, very different to my type but some growth rate very impressed.

    Ara I do and I don't. We bred a few ram hoggets out of Dads flock before. I thought it was a lot of work and messing around for what they realised in £'s at the time. If they were pedigree, I might think different of it, but there's stupid money being passed around in these parts for rams in the last few years.

    More ego than commerce, or sense.

    I know what ya mean, kept two back here two years ago for the first time and for what they made it was nearly a pointless exercise.
    Seen rams going for 600+ in ballinrobe two years ago, pure madness!

    Ah, only lambing a dozen this year. Have 3 of the doubles out and 1 in the shed that lambed this morning. Bit of bad weather forecast for tomorrow, hope the week olds will be allright outside...

    First pic, nice ewe lamb I found late in the evening. Stockholm tar and a lamb jacket, hopefully she'll still be there in the morning.

    And the rest! Didnt one go for over 1k a while back? A guy from near Con's country sold one to a guy in mayo (I dont want to be naming names!), both involved in showing mind you.
    Keeping them for breeding is a funny business. Guys get a reputation for a while and they will sell a load, then it turns around and they do well to sell 1! The term 15 minutes of fame comes to mind. That is the thing with a lack of pedigree, but at the same time that is what keeps the challenge in it. I think the best way is to be totally ruthless in what you keep. As the saying goes, you will always sell a good one. Although saying that, you see some fine ones heading to the factory at the late fairs!

    Best blackface ewe I have, two ram lambs :(

    If she had two ewe lambs I'd nearly forgive the rest of them having all ram lambs, but what can ya do.

    Last year that ewe reared a ewe and wether lamb. The weather was 43.5kg the day before he went to the mart and am fairly sure the ewe lamb was if not at 40 in the higher end of 39kg. We'll see what shape she puts on these two bucks this year.

    As for the twine, a lot cheaper than a quad and trailer :D She'd fight and fall down after being caught, so put her on her lead and she walked to the door of the old house under her own steam. I have often walked rams that way too, just with better rope ;)

    Found this poor soul paddling in a drain hole deeper than he is tall. Barely had his nose above water and had bubbles blowing from it. have him dried and by the fire a couple of hours now, just took temp 34.4 !

    Taken at stupid o'clock sometime this morning, attempting to escape his hotwater bottle box. Some issues with him and his ewe this morning back in the shed, (big teats, not great at sucking) but I will deal with that after a couple of hours of kip.

    He was 37.8 degrees around 3am and I tubed him with colostrum sometime after 4am.

    its a good feeling getting up in the morning to a lamb up and about, who was put in a box the night before next to the range with not much sign of life!

    Ah yeah, am made up that he recovered. He's shaking the tail and having a little run around inside the shed today. Have himself and the ewe in all the time as she has a big teat and I have to milk her out until he masters it.
