Don't know what to think really. Is it really needed or it will be bought by people with more money than brains ?

SLI Titans would work out at 2K, so...two Titans for the price of three, lol Nvidia are getting fond of rinsing people these days.

Think it's to do with VRAM to support such high resolutions like 2k, 4k and 5k. Otherwise 780ti would be better choice for half the price of a single Titan

One Oculus to rule them all...

I listened to the investor conference call about the acquisition. Your man Mark said that they initially are going to let Oculus focus on creating the hardware and getting a great device to market. They aren't going to change the gaming focus of the device.
They are thinking of the other possibilities of such a great piece of tech and how for them it is the future platform.

Here is the link if anyone is interested.

So if Facebook stick to their word the Oculus Rift just got a big cash injection and should be able to continue doing the great innovative work they are doing.

Except it will be feeding money back into the facebook machine so they can continue to buy up anything their heart desires.

If it doesn't change anything then why do it? Facebook aren't philanthropic in nature, this is going to benefit them.

I'm just putting the hopeful slant on things.
I said "if" with a similar cynicism.

Obviously Facebook are looking to profit from the purchase, but hopefully they will do as they claim and not interfere with Oculus' direction until they get the first consumer device completed.

On a happier note ....  http://www.daskeyboard.com/daskeyboard-4-ultimate/

That keyboard would wreak my head. looks cool though. The one I use has seen me through 10 years, and as much as I would love to replace it with something mechanical it would brake my heart to dump it.

Has anybody any news about Newegg opening doors here in Europe? I heard it was to open sometime before the end of March.

What's the idea of no letters on the keys?

Lots of people have those key caps. Don't really need them if you know where the keys are. I went looking for that Das Keyboard immediately to buy but only in US at the moment and none of the EU stockists have it listed yet.

On a brighter note, this article suggests that Nvidia are going to ramp up their game with "stacked 3d memory" and a propitiatory "interconnect".

There is a version with the letters on the keys http://www.daskeyboard.com/daskeyboard-4-professional/

The thing I'm excited about is the Das keyboards getting media controls.
These aren't new keyboards per-say, Das keyboards are some of the oldest and most respected mechanical keyboards. But I only found out today that the "Das Keyboard 4" has been released which is a revision of the originals with media keys :)

Yea theres a guy I often watch on YT and he has a Das keyboard and swears by it. The Ultimate 4 does look very very nice ! Can imagine the price of it when it hits the market here though !

Apparently it's exactly the same pricing as the US only replacing the $ with a €.
So Blues are €169 and Browns €173.

I'm a little bit put off by the price tbh.

Anyone have any experience or opinions with AOC monitors? Thinking of getting this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-Style-Q2770PQU-inch-Monitor/dp/product-description/B00GX9HU50 from Amazon at £215.

I think it might be a misprice as it's listed again for £355 from Amazon here. I was looking at a ASUS VG248QE due to it's high refresh rate but a 1440 monitor for that price is very tempting

This review seems rather complementary of it:http://www.pcgameware.co.uk/reviews/monitor-reviews/aoc-q2770pqu-wqhd-27-ips-monitor-review/

AOC are a big brand in the monitor world. If you can get that monitor for that price, then it's worth it. I would definitely choose higher resolution and quality over refresh rates unless you're very much into competitive gaming.

The NYT were trolled big time apparently. They redacted and re-edited that piece on the website the next morning.

Frankly I'm cautiously optimistic. Think about it. Any other company with deep pockets would likely be more inclined to want to meddle with OculusVR's vision for the core product and functionality.

Sony or Microsoft? They'd want to make it console exclusive, limit the resolution specs based on their consoles capabilities(ie. 1080P max) or limit resolution based on margins and ROI(we'll only sell x more units if it's a higher res etc)

Google would want to Glassify it and change the focus to augmented reality r something.

Apple would want to put it in their walled garden and only usable on their OS's and charge handsomely for it.

Even PC gaming centric companies with deep pockets would probably want to exclusivfy it. To push their own brands. Eg. "Occulus VR. Exclusive to EA Origin!!"

Facebook?? Zuckerburgs product is users. With everyone and their granny...literally on Facebook, it's losing the youth demographic. He's been buying them back with all his acquisitions in the last while. "Hey! Where do you 400 million think you're going??" ....buys Snapchat for 18 billion to get those nearly half billion users back under the Facebook umbrella. Etc etc.

He is betting that Technology has finally caught up with the VR dream, that Oculus are the people to deliver it, that it's going to be a transformative tech and be huge with the most valuable demographic. ie. 15-40 year olds. He wants those people.

At worst he'll eventually want some FB integration in the home screen or something. Even the odd pop up in game wouldn't bother me too much if it's not huge and intrusive. Unlike the other companies that could have acquired Oculus he has no need to meddle with the tech specs of the unit. However his money now means we'll get better specs, sooner and cheaper.

No more picking over the scraps from smartphone companies screens or sensors etc. They can now put custom designed hardware in the Oculus.

    Cautiously optimistic as I said.

nowadays you probably won't find active internet users that ever looks at their keyboard, except when they are trying to type in their password correctly. I'd still prefer coloring WASD just for the looks of it and fast finger adjustment
