Watching the El Clasico the other night and I could not help but dream if Ancelotti wins nowt this year with Madrid he could be shown the door. I think United would easily be back to their best under his leadership. ah well, I can but dream.

Saying that, consider how bad United have been this year and are still only 12 points behind 4th placed Arsenal. That's shocking consider United have dropped 24 points at home alone.

I sense last night might have been the last straw for many.

Still can't quite figure out why Fellaini and Cleverley were wingers last night, they never had a hope, this manager is clueless.

Because Moyes went out with a gameplay, and 45 seconds later he paniced and abandoned it.

Which is crazy IMO and tells me one thing; if the 433 tactic was played to win, he wouldn't have given up on it after 45 seconds. Moyes played 433 last night to avoid a beating and as soon as he realised we were going to lose, gave up straight away. He never believed the 433 we started with last night would win or possibly even score a goal.

I just find it hard to believe that anyone seriously thought United might turn things around to such an extent to get a result against City. It hurts to roll over so easily for them but there was little to suggest a different result. Great stuff for the Pool fans who are peppering the thread with smart remarks.

Let me say this : Its not about losing - Its the manner in which Moyes has set this team up - to lose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,893 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

The team selections are generally odd.

Buttner was given one game v West Ham and did well (Ok, so it was WH) and then he's dropped.
Like when Kagawa played a great game v Swansea, and was dropped the next game.

Cleverly, Evra and Valencia have generally been poor, but always get plenty starts.

but that's just one thing, the issue is the players have lost heart and belief, as seen in the many goals we concede where the player who should be there is strolling back, or just standing still.

Say what you like about Fergie (and I have over the years ) ,but he always went down swinging.
In fact the first few European campaigns were he tried to be a bit cagier is when Utd had there worst results.

If they are rebranding OT the O3 arena after these recent results ,it will be rebranded the Laughter lounge if they try this carry on against Bayern

Utd have the best away record in the league though. Any half decent form at home would have them top 4. How do you explain the home record.

Awful tactics. It is all on Moyes.

My worry is if they don't act soon they'll miss out on Him or Van Gaal like they did with Pep.

the first thing Klopp needs to do is tell SAF and Sir Bob to keep out of the day to day running of the club
    respect their opinions sure
but the new man cant be another puppet

i dont like the sound of van Gaal

In the first half I couldn't actually tell who was playing in what position , Fellaini out wide left , Cleverley out wide right.

I was in OT when we lost 4-1 to pool, 6-1 to city and many other defeats. I've always stayed til the end. I've watched bohs getting battered on a wintery evening in dalyer, ucd and inchicore.

Tonight I walked out of the pub in the 56th minute. Rafaels excuse of a cross, unmarked, was the final straw. An emptiness just came upon me, never felt more defeated. Granted I'm not feeling the best health wise but what came over me tonight I've never experienced before. It probably will pass tomorrow but wow.

You can't blame moyes for some of it. I see muppets commenting that its unfair to blame any player this season. BOLLOX. Look at Evra for example. But, in saying that, it's plain as day Moyes and his staff are the underlying issue and furthermore there is nothing to suggest improvement.

    Gutted. Empty. Tired... And Sad.

Well that's one thing I was wrong about last night! I'm now angry too #emotions

Me too, furiously annoying. Ah its not working so you swap with him there for 5 mins.

    Well...

That was pretty painful to watch. The starting formation was a bit obscure and the start from City was electric, talk about absolutely throwing a brick in my face of positivity.

Apart from Dzeko's botched attempt, I'm struggling to remember many saves De Gea had to make. For all the incisions and slick passing from City, they'd the same amount of chances as we did. And all I can remember is a few rubbish shots, Wellbecks flick and Mata's botched attempt.

I think, yet again, the issues that occured for the goals were the problems Moyes had already identified early on, and things that will be addressed in the summer. Evra looks shot on his feet. He was being torn asunder at every opportunity and frequently was jogging back when Navas was belting.

For the first goal, talk about completely away with the fairies. He was in a covering position and from the point Nasri got the ball at his feet, Evra barely moved. It was shocking to see.

The second goal, Ferdinand just showing how he is finished. And his reaction showed it. Dzeko didnt even move intelligently, he just lost Ferdinand with a straight run, the finish was excellent.

The third goal was so soft, it wasn't even a good dummy, Evra sold again stupidly, and Carrick wasn't anywhere close.

There appeared to be a resurgence towards the end of the first half with some slick play and unfortunately we didnt make any chances. Fellaini seemed be playing a more advanced role and I was suprised to see him struggling to get back at times. Granted he's no box to box player, he's not who we need in the final third.

I was disappointed overall with him last night. Too many times he was standing off, instead of just milling someone. The amount of times he jockeyed Toure, and I was screaming at the telly to tackle him. His elbow I think was a good call from the referee. From replays it doesnt appear he was looking at Zabaleta, and I think he went to fend of the defender, but obviously being alot taller caught him in the cheek.

Mata was extremely poor last night. Really poor. I'm hoping a good pre-season and a bit of frshness can bring out the best in him, cause I've seen a shadow so far of the Chelsea player who was rampant in the league.

Evident again last night was the lack of pace and width in the side. I lost count the amount of times Evra lost the ball and then we were hit on the break. But moreso when he or Rafael had the ball, and its like everyone moved forward, and no one made an option. It was just Sunday football to be honest, no one showing.

I've noticed that in a number of the bad performances, this craic with our fullbacks moving forward, with no one showing for the ball.

The lack of umph from the team was dissppointing, but I felt it was just another indication of our obvious weaklinks costing us.

The more I see Carrick, the more I fear for his survival in this squad, he looks to be worse and worse everytime I see him.

Still holding on for Moyes, when it comes to a game, I tend to focus more on the players playing, then the tactics of potential strategy behind it, and last night was riddled with examples of players costing us again, lazyness, end of careers and just downright dirt.

I'll just saw that obviously we lost 3-0, but it in no way felt as harrowing as the Liverpool result. While we fizzled out in the second half, there was few or far between attempts I can remember from City outside the goals. And you'd nearly be amde believe De Gea was working overtime last night.

Evra is actually boiling my blood this year, I don't know if it's lazyness or if it's his legs going, but it's a disgrace for him to be having the captains armband. And I wish Moyes would grow a pair of bollox and sort some things out now.

Hand the captaincy to Rooney, and remove Evra from the squad entirely and play Buttner.

Surely his time is up, I'll admit I have been in the Moyes Out camp since the Spurs game on New Years Day but surely last night would have been the last straw! Losing to City is fine, it happens, they have a quality team and have beaten SAF sides over the last few years but its the way it happened that is a disgrace! What formation did we play? Why was Cleverley on the wing? If he wasnt supposed to be there then why did we abondon our "system" after 5 minutes? Sad thing is City stopped playing after the second goal and made two negative substitutions so they werent even really trying for the last 35 minutes. Its sad to watch and I really fear for us in the Bayern tie, it could be a real embarrasment for the club. I dont dislike Moyes , he seems like a decent bloke but if anyone in any walk of life was performing this badly in their job they would be long gone. Time to end it before we do any real lasting damage.

key point mentioned by most posters here is around the word 'improvement'
Moyes has been around since last July
but i cant identify one area that he could reasonably claim to have 'improved'
the club is digressing at a rate of knots
he has no clue how to turn the ship around
him and woodward hitting the transfer market this summer with a war chest would be comical
it'd be like some skanger hitting BTs after winning the euromillions

Where does this war chest talk come from though? £65 million has been spent on Mata and Fellani. How much more would need to be spent to turn it around?

Still ignoring the fact that Moyes pushed Fellaini up the pitch and that Moyes continues to pick Evra.

The issue with paslce was partially resolved with Valencia coming back into the side recently and should have been a no brainer vs Clichy.

Moyes's negativity is the issue, bringing Cleverley back in after a month on the sidelines made no sense as did experimenting with a new formation.

Don't know why you have taken against Van gaal so suddenly.
We would be blessed to have him replace Moyes right now

Van Gaal has won the title in 3 different leagues we'd be blessed to have him
