    Badgers do carry TB in their mucous. If they are infected and they feed at the same trough as cattle, the cattle can become infected. That's science fact.

    I believe what the article is questioning is wheter there is a causative link between culling and decreased rates of TB in cattle. Not, whether the TB from badgers can infect bovine. That is, is the decrease in TB is due to the cull, as opposed to better veterinary medicine, practices, ventilation, awareness, ...

    I don't suppose the author would volunteer a farm and a herd of cattle to test their hypothesis.

    The methods in the UK are very different to the ones used in Ireland though I think? We use snares and probably target setts, whereas a large part of the UK cull involved shooting 'free-running' badgers?

    And I can't see any change in our methodology any time soon, especially given the difficulties and failures of the UK cull so far.

    I'm failing to see how this is relevant to hunting. I know it has come up elsewhere in other fora.

    The culling aspect might be hunting related but any cull would be carried out by the relevant dept/group and not a free for all.

    Every other aspect of this is more suited to F&F or N&BW. So basically unless someone can give a reason as to why hunting is better suited i see no reason to leave the thread open.
