I'm not quiet sure where to put this, it's not a dreamer, but it's sort of skanger, but it's the description that confuses me

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/1-4-standered-honda-civic/6640846

I reckon the "no back box" means it hasn't an aftermarket box.

Standared is a clever hybrid of "standard" and "red"

    Its completely worthless tbh

    To sum up...

He wants to swap a standered civic with break pads done for a diesel car that's low on petrol. :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,605 ✭✭✭toastedpickles

This is what does it for me

    He states first

    "Great car"

    then

"Car will never been on the road due to chassis rusted"

    Whut??

How do you pronounce "doge". It's the same as dog isn't it?

I pronounce it "doggy" but apparently the correct way is "dohj" but I think it sound weird that way.

I pronounce it, kind of, "dough-guh", but its 1 syllable.

Dunno if that even makes sense :P

I pronounce it Dohj as well like you would when referring to an actual Doge, as you would find in Italy.

I don't know, I'm not really a fan of Alfas.

I'd prefer this (but with a petrol engine) http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/vw-passat/6650693 :P

You're better off without leather. It's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.

Am I? Hahah, is that good or bad? :P

@YbFocus, sure I don't own leather seats but I've been in cars that have them so I know what it's like.

It's the heart break I'm worried about. Was just reading about the suspension on alfaowner.Stocks not up to the job with all the weight. They recomend upgrading with aftermarket stuff for 550stg. Seems a good but expensive idea. Brakes are apparently ****e too

    http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/2248600-post18.html
    lol

no leather wouldn't be a game changer so much as timing belt needing done. Can it be done on a driveway with the engine in place?

1.9 m-jet seem the better option the more I look into it but doubt it will be got for them sort of moneys.Have a small 4 pot diesel phobia though:o, although in a medium sized car the weight becomes more of an issue. Also looking at this with my half sensible hat on. Looking more likely tbh unless it's a rusty shed. http://www.adverts.ie/car/audi/80-avant/1995-audi-80-avant-for-sale/2832739 bit of a step down :)

That 2.4 jtd is a 5 pot. Dunno about the timing belt but suspension and clutch recently done would be a good thing. I always liked the Audi 80 avant, bit long in the tooth now though.

Edit: shocks are not the problem, it's the front suspension arms, they last about as long as an Irish dry spell.

Leather even cleans easier. Did you ever eat a twirl in the car and try get little bits of chocolate out of the seats.

Bit long in the tooth alright but if I could get it VRT's and NCT'd up with tyres and timing belts done for under 1500 I'd be happy. Any more and maybe it's not worth it. Have to have a look and a drive of it to know roughly

    Bought and vrt'd for 1000
    nct 55
    tyres 240
    timing belts+WP 200.
    Full service 80

Tight margins :pac: Track rods or brake hose wouldn't be the end of the world. What would one be worth with that work done and a fresh NCT I wonder.

Aye that's what I thought, reading again they just meant it as a performance upgrade. A friend who commutes into galway from the sticks had to got rid of his 156 because of them wishbones.

Imo - a lot of modern cars are transformed inside with leather.

Manufacturers tend to fit cars with black interiors a lot - but you are more likely to get a lighter coloured interior with leather imo.

THAT alone makes a world of difference to a car - having a lighter coloured interior

Cars just seem nicer to be in when you've leather - I know that's probably just in my head.

I think there needs to be a poster of your quotes made, some of them are fantastic :)

@GvidoR - I'll never go back, as well as everything mentioned they don't get dirty like cloth seats etc.

    Leather seats are the best.

Especially when they're heated, massage etc...

The various Leather Recaros i've had in cars are some of the most comfortable 'chairs' i've sat in (not just in cars)
