Looking to start streaming channels and possibly recordings from my AA2 to a raspberry pi. Has anyone here got this setup and would be able to give me some pointers? I had a google for it but it didn't bring up much of any relevance.

install the VU+/Enigma2 add on..think it comes out of the box on Openelec as I cant remember having to install from .zip or anything.

Go into the settings of the add-on and enter box i.p etc.

tip: Only have it importing say your 'favourites' bouquet and not them all.

Then go into settings on XBMC and turn on 'Live Tv'

Hi, yeah I did all this earlier but I can't seem to get it only download one bouquet, it keeps trying to load the entire epg. Any idea where I might be going wrong? Very impressed with the picture quality. I even had the he channels working flawlessly.

It does epg import for all I think.

but the channels selector on screen should only showing listings from your favourites bouquets?

I do have an option set called something like ' dont download epg if channel playing' something along those lines...in work cant check.
    I find it helps.

sometimes I only get audio for some channels and I was wondering do I need to buy a RPi MPEG license or something?..its been a while so I must look into it again.

Managed to get it working with a USB key as opposed to an external hard drive, only issue I'm facing now is that even when I run the crossEPG downloader it completes the download but it doesn't update the program information in the guide? It's all just blank?

It seems to work with my external hard drive, is there a setting I need to change? (Using Hyperion image)

Have been using Hyperion 3 for the last few months and happy with the performance but decided to give Ar-P another go to see if I could get better recording performance ,the hard drive sometimes locks up with Hyperion.

So far so good with Ar-P,it seems slightly faster and responsive.
Got Cooltv v7 working nicely on it ,I imported it from a hdmu image so it would work correctly and have a better keymap.
I also edited the keymap in usr/share/enigma2 to map the buttons more to my liking .

The Pli-HD skin that I prefer runs better on Ar-P ,it seems to be patched by PKT for Hyperion and has a few slight quirks,ie the month is Maerz instead of March and the font is slightly different too ,its clearer on Ar-P.
It also correctly shows Now and Next ,unlike Hyperion which needs the EventName.py file to be swapped to display this correctly.

When you stop timeshift on Ar-P it correctly asks if you wish to stop timeshift ,on Hyperion it didnt display this at all.

The teletext on Ar-P is also much easier to read ,the font on Hyperion is quite jagged and hard on the eyes.

1channel works nicely on Ar-P and iptvlistupdater streams are fine too ,the only streaming issues I had were with the RTE player as the audio is garbled.

Oscam is rock solid on Ar-P ,have tweaked my settings at this stage ,to get optimum performance.

Will see how it performs with recording over the coming weeks to see if the hard drive locks up like it used to Hyperion .

Not sure if its just my imagination but the picture looks slightly brighter on Ar-P too ,it was a bit darker on Hyperion and I had to adjust the tv picture setting to get the picture right .I prefer Ar-P's colour balance .

The SD picture quality on these receivers destroys other receivers ,Dreambox and Vu SD picture quality is vastly inferior, really noticeable on larger sets .

Did you try to reload epg in the crossepg menu?

Where is the CrossEPG menu located do you know off hand? In the Plugin Browser CrossEPG Downloader appears but when you click that it doesn't have any options just downloads the EPG - currently running Hyperion

    thanks

It's not in plugins, it's in its own settings menu item

Menu -> Setup -> CrossEPG -> Force epg reload.

In this menu you can also configure it to download during the night so you should never need to load it up again.

Not sure about the .avi file problem but to backup your image you just need to go into the same plugin in spark that you used to flash the image in the first place but instead of pressing red you will press green to do a backup. This will make a copy of your entire image. If you upgrade to v4 at any stage you will have to make all the changes again.

When I select e2upgrade plug in, in spark, I only have the option to start osd (red) or delete (green).
When I elect red I then only have the option to Uograde Enigma2 (red) or information (yellow)
Pressing green in here does nothing?
    Any ideas?

There are two e2upgrade plugins, one allows backup, the other doesn't. Champion has included the one that has backup in his download

You have an old version of the plugin.

Delete the plugin, then slap this on a usb and when inserted spark should see it and ask you do you want to install it.

Gave that a shot and it seems to bring up a page full of channel information, but when I scroll down the rest seem blank?

no errors are reported when the CrossEPG downloader runs, it completes and just loops back to the plugins page and then a channel called 'DVB Service'

    thanks

Deleted the existing plugin and scp'd both of these to /root/plugin/var/bin (putting on USB did not work)

I can start the plugin named "enigma2-plugin-extension-tsmedia-oe2.0_5.-_all.ipk" but pressing red ("Start OSD") does nothing.
I cannot start the plugin named "plugin_e2upgrade.s", when I try to start that the screen just flashes black for a second and the plugin does not go green.
    Anyone seen this?

I have the same issue, can't start either of the plugins for some reason - upgrading using the buttons on the front of the box at the moment even though it's not the best method - would be great if anyone has a solution for this

Guys, please do what people tell you to do - it's for your own good.

    1. Take the plugin folder and place it on a usb stick.

    2. Boot into Spark

    3. Once booted, insert the usb stick into the front usb. It will ask to install plugins - say Yes

    4. Done !!!

Do NOT try and be clever and ftp the files yourself - it won't work

The reason I ftpd the files was because I tried inserting 2 different USB drives with no success so I had no other choice.

Will try a reboot as you have suggested.

    No joy here for me.
Got to step3 and I was never prompted to install any plugins.
    Tried 2 different USB drives.
When I connect them the search magnifying glass comes up and I can browse to both USB drives while they are connected at the front slot through Sparks "File List" program OK, but I never get prompted to install anything.

Maybe this procedure only works on non + boxes.

It should work on any box, confirm that you have a folder called plugin in the root of your Usb key with a few .xml files and a var and webtv folder inside

Good review. I will give Ar-p another go. I was scared by ARP images, (I tried a few when I got the box first. green screened all to often. Didn't help that I was trying to sell the idea of ditching Sky to the family at the time.)
Hyperion V3 has a lot going for it. but there are a few glitches alright. A bit disappointed that V4 hasn't resolved many (as of yet), so in the mood for a week of late night trials.
btw Have you had any trouble tuning saorview channels on your Arp image?

However I use the rear usb port and have the usb plugged in during boot.(mind you I only did it once or twice)

But championc has walked many people through his procedure with success.

Hyperion 3 is very solid and the only time it lets me down is sometimes recording stuff on it ,primarily recording a channel while watching another. It seems to be a memory issue and the hard drive locks up and the box needs to be rebooted.

Its rare it happens but quite annoying for the missus when it does ,since getting a triple tuner receiver the amount of stuff she is recording has gone through the roof ,I can barely get a look in .:D

I know the feeling ,I spent ages getting Hyperion 3 tweaked the way I wanted it ,then did Hyperion 4 and now onto Ar-P.

No issues with the Saorview channels ,all working fine ,my receiver is a year old so more reliable.

No issues with the Saorview channels ,all working fine ,my receiver is a year old so more reliable.

I have only a few issues with V3, and they don't happen consistently enough for me to track the issue:
-Sometimes gets stuck in standby when recording (either holding the standby button for 5 secs or power off to fix)
-when watching back a recording, the picture freezes after approx 1.5 hr continuous play (think it may be file size. solved by pressing exit, and resume play)
-can get the odd 0mb recording. (too random to say why some do, and some dont)
-get the cog wheels, sometimes if i try to switch between functions too quickly eg changing channel while in the info mode, but again too random to track
-some pixelation on recordings. I put this down to router problems
-Oscam needs restarting the odd time

Strange as it may sound, but the image seems to run better if I leave it alone for a few days, without flashing something or other to the box. And some issues with plugins. I am trying to find a working upnp or dlna renderer, and may have upset the box a little by trying a few things/plugins/patches. (lost rte player recently also, haven't investigated yet)
But all in all, its quite stable, and user friendly (or at least I have the family trained to use the" just turn it off and on again" trick). But like alot around here, have spent alot ot time on this hobby, changing keymaps, setting channel preferences, listings, various plugins, features etc. (more time playing with it than watching it. As someone pointed out a while back on this forum, alot of posts here are late at night for a reason)

Thats a problem for me .The playback pauses every so often ,often every 20 minutes ,sometimes less but seems to be worse on HD channels.
I have to press the right button to get it to resume.
    Only a slight annoyance

    No issues there

Steep learning curve mind you but once you get the hang of it .

I turn my receiver off every night .
The only issues I have are with recordings .I tried 2 different hard drives and they both gave the same issues so its unlikely a hard drive issue but I cant rule it out.

I believe the Samsung M3 drives work well with the receivers ,I recently bought a 1.5Tb M3 drive so might try that out as a test.

For general tv viewing the receiver never lets me down ,its as reliable as my Dm800 which runs the legendary Dream Elite Phoenix image .
