I heard somewhere it's a bit cramped and the seating is fairly tight.

Don't know much more than that, sorry.

edit; I also heard someone else say it's huge, so who knows really?

If you are tall the seating is very cramped, has lovely toilets though.

Agree with that. Absolute arse quality live sound.

    Gorgeous venue all the same.

Great spot for a gig. Always liked it.

The seating is awful. It was designed when people were obviously much much shorter. I'm only 5'10" so quite short and my knees were scraping off the seats in front.

That said, that was in the circle. I'm not sure if they're different seats on ground level as it's removable for certain concerts.

The seats downstairs are very cramped, but it's a great venue. I've had many a great night there.

    Better when it's standing downstairs.

I love it but I always get standing tickets for gigs. It's probably my favourite venue to go to.

I was there but then Zeus cast me down to earth again. Baxstard.

Hate the seating and would never go to it again, seats designed for small people end of ....

Good venue, although acoustics could be better. I saw Paul Weller, the stranglers, Billy Bragg over the years...oh and jedward (kids pantomime...honest,).

    Billy Bragg .

Not in 1988 by any chance? :)

    Great gig.

I've only ever had standing tickets so I don't know what the seating there is like. I think it's a nice intimate venue and I don't think the sound is that bad. I've always liked the old-style, classic interior, gives it a bit of character.

I have many great memories of this venue. I was there for the last night of R.E.M's 5 night stand, which they turned into a live album. Amazing. Chris Cornell, The Mars Volta, Placebo, Mogwai.....

    Great gig.

I think it was 1990, as he was celebrating Margaret Thatchers fall from power all through his set!

    I think it's a good venue. I believe it's haunted though

I hope Garth Brooks is not reading this thread, he will be wanting to perform 29 and a half concerts there.

It used to be a good spot when the rugby was played in there. But ever since the retractable roof broke it's really only been good for the ten pin bowling. Still I've been to a lot of bowling venues around the country and the Olympia is by far the best.

It's been rumoured that it will be top of the ticket when the ITPBA launch their bid later in the year to host the 2019 world cup of TPB here

I love the way you can see the stage from the bar.

I have no legs and thought it was cramped.

Great place for a gig. At one time they took the front seats out. Haven't been in a long time. Used to love the Midnight at The Olympia gigs.

If you stand at the entrance to the bar directly behind the sound desk you can get great sound.

Yeah it's kind of disturbing to see people head banging when they are sitting down. Noticed it when I saw The Waterboys there a few years ago.
