not a farming thread but girlfriend came home from college in tears her laptop was hacked an her assignment due for Tuesday is gone and it a 30000 word one.

Woah woah woah ,as in deleted off it??

There is a way to get back files that are deleted as they won't be wiped off the hard dirve fully (I think, not 100%)

Get her to take it to a repair centre asap. Something like this- http://www.wikihow.com/Recover-Deleted-Files-from-Your-Computer

I had to do it before too.

i went to my sisters house for a cuppa earlier- i walked- while i was gone a travelling traveller salesman came selling gates. Oh told him i was away. He said but her car is here:eek: oh told him again i wasnt here. He walked up and looked in the kitchen window and then went down the yard:eek::eek: no way would he listen to oh

i bought rounder feeders off him years ago and the2 sides didnt meet up iykwim... havent bought anything off him in years and he is very pushy. Last time he came iran into the house to hide and he looked in the kitchen window and saw me:eek:

Had one who called here a while back started to take gates off then demanded the oh to pay for them.
The oh rang me and said she was afraid of him so I came straight home he told me to get the money to pay him real brazen and threatening like. Should have seen his face when he was asked one barrel or two. Told him to take the gates if he wanted them but he had 5 minutes to be gone

I remember a time here the woman in tears when she overwrote and assignment for her Masters. I thought the world was gonna stop! It was serious trauma here for a while.
Anyway she pulled an all nighter got it in before the deadline and........
Everything is backed up now, between the PC, Laptop, virtual storage and an external hard drive.
I can tell ya, it's something that won't happen twice!
I do feel your pain though.

ah stop I only home 10 mins and afraid to like at her, her eyes are puffed and red from crying, jayous I feel helpless towards her and wish I knew how to retrieve it but my sisters bf is a computer freak and he coming over after work to see can he retrieve it for her, it can be done he said through some anti virus, so fingers crossed he does

He will more than likely just pull every thing off the hard drive and dump it on to an external hardrive.when ever she saved it last should be there

phew the man is a genius he got it back I don't know how he did it but it back, all that missing is last 1000 words, tears of joy from her here, Delighted it back for the poor devils sake, she gone to Tesco to get a usb key now, least she will sleep tonight now. thanks everyone for the help all greatly appreciated
