Heard piece on radio this morning about EPA investigating a number of places where untreated sewage was being discharged into waterways and the sea. Presume it more than from one or two private houses. Yet a farmer cannot spread from their own septic tank on their own land if tank needs to be emptied which shouldn't need to be done if septic tank working ok. So was wondering will the authorities concerned lose any SFP?

with the father health the way it is and all, the past few months we were trying to get him cut back on work load and sell his sucklers and rear calves or contract rear heifers or lease me his 55 acres and I farm young stock on it... anyway he woudnt hear tell of it, this morn his last cow calved and after breakfast and tae he announced to the mother that at near 60 yrs and his heath that it is, this calving cows was a young mans game and he not able for stress of it after heart attack that he is strongly thinking of selling cows... I was thinking of suggesting to him to contract rear my calves after weaning and fodeer he get slice of milk cheque and still have a income at less stress and of course I be still minding my calves but he be manageing them and let him make decisions and treat them as his own and keep him happy and still be part of the business...hope he goes for it now as it allow e build to 110 cows then :) if he goes for it I might send him on a holiday and have the sucklers gone when he come back and replace with black and whites

Spreading slurry here and its getting dark. I may trade the auld tractor in for one with twin beacons cos I feel inadequate with just top work lights on in the field.

Can't believe you are letting your self, your farm, your parish, your county and your ancestors down in this manner. Top work lights and no Beacons!
    A Disgrace!
Young fellows across the country disgusted with this kind of carry-on..........:D...

Let some bulls, 320/330kgs out last Saturday as slurry full..
    Feckin two lame this-evening..

Put them in crush and both have cuts on back feet... they cross a stoned gap to the field from the yard where they are getting silage :(
Cleaned the cuts, sprayed with antiseptic spray and vet gave me a job for them, no swelling, just sore.. in on straw now !

We use this gap all the time and I've had similarly sized heifers crossing it since Janurary... Feckin bulls jumping and acting the cnut !!

There's a question... I had planned to squeeze them at turnout as the grass would be cleaner to lie on... Could I squeeze them while still o the slats... All this testosterone is pissing me off !!

see the bit where it says any BVD inconclusive result means the calf has to be gotten rid off
