That Primera above looks great. But surely anything for 600-odd quid must be a Lemon?

I bought a P10 Primera for 500 quid a few years ago, drove it for a year and sold it for 600 quid. Great cars.

I had a 99 Almera for 7 years up until last Summer and it was tough as old boots. I'm guessing the Primeras of that vintage were similarily hardy?

I'm getting a banger soon. I'm thinking along the lines of an S40. But I wouldn't rule out a Primera.

Can't be too bad, if it comes with NCT, but I listed 5 and all were better value than the one daz16 posted.

At over 1500 for a Volvo it isn't really Bangernomics anymore.

It had a new NCT this time last year too. Must be something dodgy or ti would be gone.

The almera was better made, but the primera was more steady on the road and handled better.

    I see, JohnBoy.

They appeared to be similar in size. The Primera wasn't really much bigger a'tall was it?

Some good finds indeed Marlow. Value wise debatable. One of the current shape ones you posted has no mention of nct and the other had 100k more on the clock. Still some decent cars though. I'll stand by my submission due to the nct and couple of months tax also well under the 2 grand bangernomics limit.

Milage isn't everything. Especially when it comes to bangernomics. And the facelift one you say had 100k more on the clock only had 75k more on the clock, not 100.

Couldn't agree more, mileage isnt everything especially on a volvo. Thought having an nct was part of bangernomics though? 3 of your 5 had none?

Sorry ? One had a price with or without NCT. And one wasn't advised if it has NCT or not. Doesn't matter anyhow, because a deposit already has been taken on that one.

That's 2 out of 5 max without NCT. And if they're cheap enough, then it's worth it.

I've even had deals, where the seller didn't mind throwing the car through the NCT first and it either passed or you knew, what needed to be fixed.

It doesn't help, if you don't read half of it. I was just pointing out, that what you posted actually wasn't great value for Volvos.

The primera was about 300kg heavier though. The almera had a light feeling about it in my experience. The almera is the better built of the two though.

The first green one had no nct. The second black one can be nctd at extra cost but as is has no nct and one of your newer ones has no mention of nct. It may or may not have it. They still represent good value but I was under the impression nct was needed for this thread.

Nope. Just good value around 1000 eur or less. Then again, bangernomics is subjective. And while the one before facelift had NCT at a higher price, the higher price was still nearly a 3rd of the one you posted.

1 page without a banger, time to move on;)

    27557559.jpeg

Semi classic, if it does have a full service history, as the seller claims, then the price might be just about right. Otherwise haggling is in order:D

Falling in love with Swedish cars again, and SAAB is winning at this moment.

The one I posted was how many years newer? Not getting into argument. Bangernomics is as you rightly stated subjective. However first post in thread states under 2 grand with valid nct. I stand to be corrected in which case kudos to you Marlow for finding the more bangernomics worthy car. However I don't feel that the cars put forward on this thread can be judged entirely on price. If that's the case it's a race to the bottom to see who can find the cheapest ball of muck. The v70 I put forward looks to me to be tidy, have nct, have tax, be relatively well looked after and priced at well under 2 grand. That is why I nominated it. I thought it represented good bangernomics. This does not take away from any of the nctd cars you posted which also represent good bangernomics at a lower price.
