So, does anyone have certain 'internal red flags' when they meet new people? Not romantic relationship wise, just people in general.

For example, if I meet someone and they only talk about themselves, that's a "yeah, we're not gonna get along" moment for me.

Yeah I know its judgmental, and "don't judge a book by its cover" etc, but hey, that's life, right?

So what are your deal-breakers? Poor hygiene? Racism? Bad fashion sense? Or are they more subtle?

Somebody who insists on speaking over me and cutting me off/interrupting me. Can't be dealing with that guff.

Handy if you're susceptible to sharts.

Wearing scarves or woolen hats indoors.

That current "trendy" haircut with really short back and sides and long and wavey on top.

Someone who tells me things that are waaay too personal to tell someone the first time you meet them. Tend to be nutters.

Arrogance. Can't stand it and don't want to waste a second of my time on arrogant people.

My one and only deal-breaker -

When I can sense someone is trying to be something they're not in order to try and impress or unsettle me.

Anything else I can deal with.

People who describe themselves to you. Handy code though:

    "I'm really happy-go-lucky" = difficult
"I've a quirky sense of humour" = unfunnily difficult
    "I'm dynamic" = thunderingly difficult

One-Uppers. Nothing worse then a person who can top anything anyone else shares.

In real life, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt for a few meetings unless they're exceptionally rude, snobbish or mean. Online I'd probably be a bit more prone to snap judgement.

Who talk about themselves the minute someone introduces you to them but they don't talk to you, they talk AT you. I couldn't give a **** about you. I don't know you.

    Arrogance and vanity as well.

I know this sounds terrible, but quiet people.

I'm naturally shy, and I'd love nothing more than to sit there and say nothing and expect everyone else to make the effort. But that's terrible form, so I throw myself out there in order to not be a dry shíte. If I'm putting myself out there and you're not willing to at least try to reciprocate, I could grow to like you but it's unlikely I'll ever have much respect for you.

Massive deal breaker there. I cannot stand it.

That and argumentative people that try to goad every conversation into a confrontation.

There's quiet and quiet in it. :)

Twinkly-eyed quiet from a good listener, with the occasional remark thrown out as bait, is something I find really attractive.

Somebody who insisted I remove my shoes before entering their home. I just wouldn't feel comfortable in their home or their company after that.

Those that don't converse with you, but are simply waiting for their chance to speak....annoys me too.

I'm pretty relaxed with new people unless they're Chinese.

Those earrings on fellas that pull the ear lobe and produce a wider and wider hole

People who tell you proudly how un-PC they are. Translation = I'm a bigot.

Smokers, soap dodgers, and people who don't even acknowledge people holding doors, waiters, or any kind of staff when they do something for them. I hate rude people.

It's the worst trait anyone can possess. I actually pity them; no doubt everyone secretly can't stand their company.

What's your problem with soap dodgers? I'm a soap dodger. The last thing I want is to slip in the shower.

There's an oulfella round here who still goes ceiling round the houses. More conversation in a wet sock, he justs sits there with a doleful expression in his eyes. He's one of those people that can still look up into your eyes even when he's standing and your sitting.

Harmless enough critter though, I wouldn't think any less of somebody like that, it's just they way they are.

Smoking, neck tattoos, bad personal hygeine, arrogant and self-serving demeanor, talks about ex(es) too much and drinks too much.

Hard to believe that smoking could be such a deal breaker for people considering how many people smoke.
