How much a week do you need to live on?

    With the recent stories of landlords hiking rents in a big way: how much a week do you need yo live on?

    By that I mean rent/mortgage, food, clothes (monthly?), car, electricity, TV/Broadband, socializing, mobile phone, putting a few euro aside for a holiday (if possible) etc.

    If you took your monthly outgoings and divided them by 4 what figure would you arrive at?

    Are you asking about how much I need, for my 4 bed mansion in D4, with myself and my pomeranian dog, or myself and my 10 childer living in council accommodation in Leitrim?

    Dublin city rent + loan x2 + car expenses + food + utilities etc.

    2200-2400 a month. 550-600 a week.

    That figure excludes savings though, which are becoming significant.
    Also, it's important to clarify what people mean by 'need'. For some it may be to simply scrape by (a lot of student or graduates for example). For me, the above is to have a comfortable lifestlye/

    Well, my D4 mansion is entirely paid off.
    My dog has extremely expensive taste - he costs me 100 a week in food, 40 a week in grooming, 40 per month for his vet check up
    My nail care costs 100 per month
    My therapist costs 100 per week
    My hair dresser costs 100 per week
    My personal trainer costs 200 per week
    My dietician/buyer costs 300 per week
    My maid costs 1000 per week
    My accountant doesn't charge me...
    My head is melting trying to think of these things - what did you ask again?

    1200 a week for a family of four is not as much as some people may think.decent house,two cars,holiday a year,kids education ,It all adds up very fast.

    The Redneck said you'd be passing. You're just ticked off there isn't a negative option. I'm thinking about the Michael Flatley/ Cybil Reilly-Holmes types who have forty houses and a chauffeur. There has to be a few knocking around, by the law of averages.
