The only time you should be buying flowers is when you have done something wrong .

Romance is definitely dead on this thread! :) What about appreciation, mutual respect, communication, adoration, gratitude, respect, mutuality, understanding and lets not forget relationship? Maybe even pretend for one day?

Fair enough.....I bow to the pedantry patrol

I agree that few people will be lead at gunpoint to the florist

just spent 40 quid on romantic ****e. could have got a tray of beer or a nice steak dinner. grrrrrr

We agreed not to do Valentine's day because if we do all that **** this year (our first Valentine's day) we'd end up doing it every year. I got him his fave beer and weed the other day so that he at least has something from me, and on a day I'm not expected/obliged to. Next year just agree not to do it in advance. Also, usually its just the thought that matters, so 4 euro or 40 euro, it wouldn't matter.

It's not pedantry - I hate the presumption that just because some men let themselves get stuck in relationships with mad kitschy Valentine harpies, all women are like that.

We don't do Valentines, maybe go out and get pissed but none of that mushy "Wuv you wots, my precious kitten!" dross that I'm seeing all over Facebook today. Vomit-inducing.

We're probably extra cynical today because one of our pets died yesterday.

Though, we're going to make a big fùck off banoffe pie for ourselves and gorge on that to cheer us up. Top that off with some beers and it should be grand :pac:

No, I don't  If it's pesky little tactics like emotional blackmail or nagging, I don't do that shít and nor do I tolerate it from anyone else. Forcing is way more serious than that.

Or maybe some guys just think it's simpler to buy the bloody card and box of chocolates that turning the whole thing into a power struggle.

Oh bbz, I was trying to explain that my post was not directed at you, except to say that I didn't think I was being pedantic. The rest was for the OP.

'Tis - Whitefriars church I think, though iirc it's only his head and there were two St Valentines anyway.

At least all the stupid Valentine's day chocolates will be on sale for next to nothing tomorrow.

    Yum.

Romance is definitely dead on this thread! :)

There is nothing romantic about a corporate holiday with regimented affections to be displayed on one day. Guinness must be wrecking their brain to transform Arthur's day into the same sort of culturally accepted "buy our products day" Hallmark and Hershey's have shaped Feb 14th to be.
What about appreciation, mutual respect, communication, adoration, gratitude, respect, mutuality, understanding and lets not forget relationship? Maybe even pretend for one day?

What about showing those qualities every day and not pretending?

His remains are supposedly in Whitefriar Street church. Never went to see it, mind you.
