The flappy birds thing is entirely a joke Internet meme. Some guy with millions of followers posted himself playing it, ironically ( it's crap). Millions download it. People are making ironic comments about how it leads them to satan in the App Store reviews, and now after it's been removed from the App Store there are ironic eBay sales and bids for it on phones with it installed. Even though millions of phones have it and the apk is available.

AH not as Internet savvy as it thinks.
It was popular before pewdiepie or Francis did a let's play on it. It doesn't explain the prices when you look on done deal.

Maybe some people are confused by irony?

It really wasn't popular. It might have been doing ok but he became the biggest download and was making $50k a day at the end.

This Flappy Birds is gone crazy, how can a free game make a phone worth several €100s?

would you seriously pay a stupidly over inflated price on a phone because it has flappy bird installed?

There's a lot of them on adverts and donedeal

Yeah of course I would. Tis worth an extra hundred euro easy.
Surely everyone wants a really really bad game that will be forgotten about in weeks and have clones within the next few days if not already on their smartphone.......

For those asking Flappy bird is an iPhone and Android game that pretty much went viral over the last month or two. It's pretty much unreasonably difficult. It's a very simple game. It was reported to be making 50k a day during it's peak from advertising alone, it had no in app purchases.

The developer seems like a nice guy who just couldn't hack the pressure being put on him because of it's phenomenal success. People were hounding him for updates, PR people were hounding him to "help" him make it more successful, VC's were all over him to try get a cut of his success and people were screaming at him on twitter a lot because apparently the game "ruined" their lives.

So about a week ago the developer took the game down off the store because he doesn't want anything to do with it anymore. A bit of a mental decision but I can see where he is coming from and I do feel sorry for him.

I've never played Flappy Bird so I don't understand the appeal, but surely anyone who has played it will already have it on their smart phone/tablet? I don't get why people who have never played it would want to pay huge €€€ for it.

It's a mystery why certain types of chancing your arm is OK is acceptable while others are not.

I don't see why people are flipping out about this game, it's only a copy of helicopter from back in the day.

I literally think I could program a flappy bird clone in maybe 2 hours. This hype needs to stop now.

According to someone on the other flabby bird thread it's all just some fake internet craze meant as a joke.

And to think, if it was android the .apk would have been on torrent sites for weeks and no one would be making all this fuss.
