Something I find quite amusing is there is no mention of this in the Dublin forum. :)

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

The residents seriously need to f*ck off. Trying to ruin one of the biggest events in years for a lot of people over a bit of feckin traffic and music being played until the crazy hours of 10:30 pm

I really don't know why they are being given the time of day to be honest. There is nothing to be gained by pandering to them and a hell of a lot to lose for the economy and the people of the country.

If I was a judge and this came before me the residents association would be fined for wasting the courts time.

It's certainly picking up and Aiken know they're in trouble now. Wouldn't be at all surprised to the last two dates moved at this stage - Phoenix Park would be ideal.

What if a resident has a young child that would normally go to bed at 8 o'clock? Now that child has to listen to loud music and 80,000 people singing until 10:30/11:00. Then there is the noise of people leaving so lets add on another 30 minutes. Now the streets need cleaning and barriers need to be removed so lets add on another hour. Now it's midnight and that child has lost 4 hours sleep, times that by 5 nights and tell me the residents don't have a genuine gripe over this.

It would bring back happy memories for all those "rare ould Dubs" who can reminisce about when there was 15 of them to a room and they all shared
    one toilet in the building.

It could be worse you could be born in a barn and have no indoor plumbing . at least the poor dubs have more then leaves and a field .

most residents around croke park have probably been there before the redevelopment of the stadium so that is a non issue

the only difference between Brooks and SHM is age both sets of have equal amounts of loud idiots in my experience

If promoters went over the amount of allocated events then the residents have every right to complain

    ah the innocence.

There'll be different 'members' of society there that love Garth brooks and love causing trouble.

Hahaha, some stirring going on. The 5 concerts will go ahead. There is nothing the residents can do once the license is approved. They'll just have to suck it up.

I'd be very surprised if a young child didn't sleep though it all and even if they lost a bit of sleep the enjoyment of 160k people is greater then a small number of children losing a few hours sleep.

Honestly you would swear this was going on for a few months. Its only 5 nights, 2 of which are on the weekend so there is plenty of time for sleeping in.

even a move would constitute a loss for these ambulance chasing residents as they wouldn't have stopped the concerts from going ahead like they wanted and they wouldn't have got a cent

    We are slowly learning, and loosing our innocence - "member" of society;
I will make it my mission to do as much p*ssing in gardens in the croke park area as possible and Im up in croke park a few times a year usually

True, but the problem is that no licences has been granted, there are going to be hundreds of objections to those licences and there's currently no structure for anything more than three licences to be granted.

Aiken have taken a massive, massive gamble in selling the fourth and fifth dates and they may well be in danger of not getting those licences now.

Big, big if, at this stage.
    HUGE, one might say.
Some seriously nervous people at Aiken promotions atm I would say.

When I was there for the stone roses, it was like floundering in a giant bog so the concert goers would be right at home.

Exactly ! thats why they are the meeting with the residents on wednesday . If they thought it would sail through why bother . I can also say the residents are right to put it up to them . If they don't whats to stop them looking for 10 or 12 summer concerts next year .

Seriously, do you even know what a young child is? They don't tend to sleep in just because it's the weekend.

And to think only a short while ago you very much on the beloved compensation culture bandwagon your type seems to love, crying for compensation to be tripled for turf cutters.

Have you ever been to croke park? Have you ever attended a concert there? Do you have ANY idea what 80,000 people singing along to a musician sounds like? Do you think young child would just shrug that off and sleep through it?

If you don't know what your talking about its best not to talk. The planning application and the statement in relation to having more that 3 non-sporting events is there in black and white. No structure for anything more than 3 to be granted?? Where are you getting this from??

Look at the wording of the planning application, its there to give the exact structure on how to go about using the venue for more that 3 non-sporting events. You apply for a license. Its not rocket-science.

There may well be hundreds of objections, but there will be hundreds of thousands of visitors to Dublin, and probably hundreds of millions of euro brought into the economy over the 5 nights. The residents can have a meeting every night from now til the night of the 5th concert. Won't change a thing.

Someone else said that Aitken are scared and thats why they are meeting the residents?? Hogwash. When the application comes up they'll be asked if they have met with the residents etc. This covers them on that score.

I reckon there is still demand for Garth Brooks and a 6th concert could easily sell.

My guess is that perhaps a 6th concert will be announced sometime soon. My guess would be the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night concerts will go ahead in Croke Park. Monday and Tuesday could be moved to the Phonix Park with a new date for the Wednesday.

    All just guessing.

Why would you sit down with someone if there opinion didn't matter ?

This thread is actually great ammunition for the residents for the meeting. To the poster going you could perhaps print out some of the more choice quotes by posters who intend on going. :-)

Its called ticking all the boxes. What looks better to a judge??

Promoter: I'd like to apply to put on 5 concerts
Judge: Have you spoken with the local residents?
Promoter: We are currently in talks with them.

    OR

Promoter: I'd like to apply to put on 5 concerts
Judge: Have you spoken with the local residents?
    Promoter: No, not at all.

Okay then, lets see if we can clarify on this then.

Allowed 3 non-sporting events with applying for permission.
That will be the 3 One Direction concert.

3 Garth Brooks concerts organised and sold
    Permission was granted.

Two additional Garth Brooks concerts sold.
APPLICATION for approval has NOT been granted.

Therefore it most certainly not a sure thing.
    Not by a long chalk.
