Have a look at my earlier posts, there's some bug that's putting the box into deep standby everyday, this causes the box to fail recordings and become unresponsive until I hard boot it.

I probably need to try a newer image maybe, but the wife is otherwise happy with this one so I'm reluctant to mess with the box.

    I suspect you're not married?

I'm using this on my main tv, any new image I flash needs setup, oscam, various plugins, recordings etc, and most importantly it needs to be rock solid, else I'll have a wife asking to get Sky back in.

Wives!!!!!! They wouldn't know a good thing if it bit them on the arse!

Has anyone had an issue with missing the first few minutes of recordings. Mine seems to miss the first 2-3 minutes of a low of shows.

My box is set to reboot every day around 9am, so the timer on the front of the box is not right until I put the box into standby and back on, maybe this has something to do with it?

Box is a GM Spark Triplex using TheTechGuy 's image.

I haven't noticed, what are you using to reboot?

A timed power socket. Not ideal but it does the trick and it's replicating what i used to have to manually do to the box anyway.

Good stuff I might try that myself, I'm having similar problems with the box hanging etc.

    Thanks

I am and am in the same situation as you, you're not doing it right. Backup your current image, flash new image and start to configure. You can easily backup and flash back to your working backup until you get all working.

I have it set to cut power from 8 am to 9 am. That seems to do the trick, I get home from work anytime from 5 PM to 8 PM and it's not been stuck in deep standby any day since I started the daily reboot.

Where might one find a decent set of picons that includes RTE etc?
I'm using my box as FTA and Saorview.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.

    My image include most Picons

As for the standby issue, I have not seemed to have an issue ever since I have done an Online Software Update of my image. It seems to certainly have no issues anymore in coming out of Standby. I can only suggest that people try my image and roll it up to date online. Dropping the power, especially with a connected USB HDD is asking for trouble. Have you tried using a Cron Tab with Reboot and then also use Cache Flush ?

I've also tried that upgrade/ backup clone and cannot get it to work.
It will not run on the box for me, only the plugin with the upgrade option will run, is it a config in spark perhaps?

Other question, just to see if anyone has come across this before I reflash.
It's happened today on my GM990 spark reloaded but it previously happened on my Triplex which leads me to believe it's related to the image:

I rebooted the box earlier, and when it came back there's no picture, the menu's display fine, just not the satellite image behind it, same for all channels, oscam working fine (I can see it via the GUI), Web INterface even streams fine to my pc, also, the remote is not working.

I boot into spark and all is fine....

It has me stumped, as I didn't make any changes to the box, only thing I can think of is that it may have been doing something when it rebooted?

Ready to reflash.... just wondered if anyone experienced similar.

Lads I need some help. Spent the evening trying to fix my amiko... Real wish I didn't buy it now anyway...
I can not boot into Enigma2. It was working fine for weeks and then I went playing with it.. It just stays on boot.. I think I've fecked the bootloader. So I've tried refreshing with USB and with e2upgrade in spark, with no luck.
So tired to flash the spark rescue image did this by usb and no issues. I read somewhere it has update to the u boot.. So tried flash e2 again but now I get "t to" tried a second d usb and get the same issue. I've read this USB in the past so know it works.
Now my qquestion is how do I use the rs232 serial port to get to the terminal. It connects up using com1 port but don't get anything back.. I am using rs232 to usb... Has anyone successfully used the serial cable?
Any help advice would be great thanks..

I had a similar issue with a USB key that I knew worked, this time it didn't.
I think the ( t , to ) error means not recognised, try a different USB key and make sure files in enigma2 folder.
    Hope this helps.

Flash using the Spark e2upgrade plugin. I don't know why people still continue to insist trying to flash using the front panel only. Using the e2upgrade plugin, there is never an issue reading from the USB whereas it's only the front panel way which seems to only like Kingston USB's

i have tried this and it does say it was successful, it only takes about 30 secs not sure if thats to quick. but when try to boot into E2 it just hangs on the boot prompt.. im at a lose at this stage

It should take a lot longer than that. Sounds like a bad version of the e2upgrade plugin. @TaytoBreath had this same problem. Take the copy of the e2upgrade plugin from my download link and install it into your Spark.

It's the skins that dictate this. So if you are asking about maybe something like Sky, then you would use the SkyHDMod Skin

I was getting this problem when the Image was not on the main folder on the drive ie directly on the drive. When I was loading images from within folders on the flash drive. They too 30 seconds and wouldn't load, hung on boot, just like you are describing.

Have you tried copying the image files directly on to the drive, and not in a folder on the drive?

The version of Spark has nothing to do with Plugins which are completely separate modules, for want of a better word.

Are there maybe now 2 x e2upgrade items in the plugins list ?

Make sure the enigma backup files are in a folder called enigma2. Don't have any spaces or other odd characters in the folder name or you get the exact symptoms described. Appears to install but hangs on boot.

    nope only the one..
going to install the rescue image and try bring it back to factory. and then install the plugin again..

yeap have tried this numerous of times, after about a min i get "T TO" which means cant read usb, have tried numerous usb and get the same result.
if i could get the serial connection working i could see what is going on.

is there away to refresh the u boot

How do i back up my current Enigma 2 image, in case i want to restore it?

I've just backed up something in Spark but I'm not sure what it is.

In Spark i went into system>>Backup, then selected app+Database+plugin, specified a location and pressed the red button to do the backup.

I now have a folder called app_db_plugin_201402122302 with eleven .gz extension files and one .xml file.

    Is this my Enigma2 backup?

I was expecting two files, the e2jffss.img and uImage file. Is there another step or have i backed the wrong thing?

Right i've found this post http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=85247710&postcount=1903, but the link to the plugin mentioned no longer works.

I'm guessing the plugin i have isn't the one that allows flashing an image the easy way and taking a backup. Has anyone got a link to the plugin which allows both?

    TIA
