Thats Billy Ray Cyrus's song, not Garth Brooks.

Apologies, I'm more of a Chris Gaines man myself.

Who would have thought Garth Brooks fans would be so rowdy and self absorbed? Great thread. Looks like the residents concerns are justified.

I've been invited to the 'closed doors' meeting in croker with Aiken on wednesday at 7pm.

    should be fun...will report.

Hope you get a compromise that suits the residents .

I actually have no major problem with the concerts, I live right beside it and our road is closed off, so it actually is no problem at all. You just need to get your timings right if you are in the car. The kids are under 5 and have had no problems sleeping. Helicopters flying overhead after the gig are annoying and unnecessary though.

Apart from that, I'm not sure what this meeting will be about. There will be some legacy offering from Croke Park and the Promoters, but not sure what it will be.

tbh, on big match days, our road is cleaned before, during and after the game, people walk quietly passed my door generally afterwards and there is always a bit of banter and craic.

Think the only solution really is earlier concerts, move the finish time to 10pm instead of 11pm, why not put it on in the middle of the day? The tickets are sold now, it makes no difference. just some thoughts.

Thats interesting to know. I go to a lot of GAA games in Croke Park and I have only been to 2 concerts there, but I am aware that a lot of people live in the shadow of Croke Park and have to juggle their activities around events there.

Having said that, I think 5 concerts in a row is pretty excessive and if I was living on Clonliffe Road for example, I wouldn't be happy with the disruption for 5 straight nights. The relevant authorities should have allowed 2 concerts maximum. I think that there are die-hard fans out there who are going to several concerts, not satisfied with going to one!

I'd love to see smidgy and smiley stand in front of a judge seeking their injunction: 'this fat over bloated redneck prick wants to make a comeback'

I wonder will they speak in front of a judge in the same manner that they're so quick dishing out insults towards him and his fans on this forum.

I'm neither solicitor nor barrister, why would I appear in court seeking an injunction? You do know how the court system works, right? I mean you can't just stroll in and say "Hey you Judge, I have a problem here and ya better fix it!!"

Also, I haven't used that sort of language about Mr Brooks.
I have given my personal opinion of his motives and also my personal opinion of him as a performer, as have MANY others.
You don't seriously think that every single person in Ireland has the same musical taste as you do surely?

Time and again I have stressed that its not only with Mr Brooks I have issue with but Aiken/GAA.

The GAA is a year round neighbour of the people in the vicinity and for them to repeatedly take liberties with their neighbours, well in my opinion it won't end well.
Everyone gets fed up when they have had their fill of a bad neighbour.

I consider Mr Brooks to be a greedy has been but not a stupid one.
If someone were to offer €20 odd million for 5 nights "work" he would be as much of a fool not to take it as are the people who have chosen to royally line his pockets.

But time and again, yourself and other Garth Brooks fans have come across as very threatening and abusive to the other posters here.
You have given credence to the concerns of the residents about how certain concert goers behave and along with your fellow supporters have indeed shown that it wouldn't cost certain people a thought to "pi5s on peoples property and damage their homes and become threatening when you do not get your own way.

the residents of D3 and D4 should be treated equally.
    agree.
both venues should only have 3 concerts a year .
no, they should be able to have as many events as they want

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

How can you consider meeting demand as being greedy. The only reason he is doing 5 shows it that there was huge demand.

If the extra shows weren't added there would be 1000's and 1000's more people left disappointing.

Think about it in the context of a product and it shows how ridiculous an opinion it is. Imagine apple only selling a limited number of iPhones because selling more than "x" amount would be greedy

    agree.

no, they should be able to have as many events as they want

I'm glad to see you agree that both venues and neighbourhoods should be treated equally.
Therefore until the 3 concert rule is lifted at the Aviva and they are allowed have as many concerts as they want, there should be the same rule in place at Croke Park.
There were already 3 One Direction concerts given the go ahead before the Garth Brooks concerts so at the very minimum 2 of the Garth Brooks dates should be cancelled as Croke Park will even at that be having double the concerts as held in the Aviva.

What a great idea. 5 more nights of Garth Brooks at the Aviva.

Promotors are probably looking into it.

    Im up for it.

Very considerate of you to suggest that.

An iPhone is a product, a concert is a service.
    So totally apples and oranges.
But running with that idea, an iphone, never mind 400.000 of them have ever fouled my property so , me and iphones?
    We cool

God, no! Can you imagine the sh1te they'd make of the floors with their cowboy boots and spurs and dragging slurry in all over the place.

It would bring back happy memories for all those "rare ould Dubs" who can reminisce about when there was 15 of them to a room and they all shared
    one toilet in the building.

all these pointless money costing restrictions should be lifted and as many concerts as theirs demand for should be put on in both venues

But until that time as you have already agreed, it should be like for like.
So until that time maybe people would be better off petitioning Aviva and its residents for MORE concerts and not direct their anger at the residents around Croke Park for have already done double the share(and then some).

    Double standards, eh?

Really hope he gets another gig. Loads of greedy fcukers have bought extra tickets and are hoping to cash in. I hope they get roasted and are left holding stubs to a half filled stadium...

    One two....one two

The hours of sound checks are more annoying then the concert music
