Supporters of Liverpool "football club" (why do they always add that on)

    Bad losers, worse winners.

I'm all in favour of " be safe , be seen " on the roads at night , but in all fairness some runners over do it . A reflective bib ,a head torch and and rear torch if you wish and maybe an armband should really be enough , in the Phoenix park some nights it can be hard to know which way to pass a runner coming against you , dazzling the f*** out of you with flashing red lights hanging off every limb and appendage , like coming up against the fu***ng UFO out of close encounters of the third kind .... Ok guys , we see you , the frigging man on the moon can see you !

Fucking football, and football talk and "we were unlucky/today" when you aren't involved with the team at all.

    Snowboard slopestyle

This is currently on BBC and it is pissing me off majorly. I hate snowbaorders as it is. I can say this as a man who has never skied or plans to ski in my lifetime. The competitors are all smiles having a laugh in their designer snow gear, it's the fcuking olympics, take it seriously or go home. The marshals are all bearded bastards who look like they could go with a good wash. And the commentators of the event, a bunch of ****ebags. Making up terms as they go along. Someone in the BBC main studio asked they to explain what they meant by "a bit squirrely" and the bastards couldn't explain it themselves (that's just one of their stupid terms). They've more made up jargon than some of the training logs on boards.ie. IMO, everyone involved in this "sport" is a hipster dick. I'd say they all head to starbucks for a coffee post event, surf the web on their iPads before heading to some crappy bar to eat tapas and drink some random crap craft beer that is unique to the region. I hope the sun comes out and melts their slopes before run 2

Winter Olympics grinches. Its ok- if you want on our next run I'll it explain to you what its like to come from a country that actually wins Olympic medals. :D

Those bbc announcers are pretty tough to take though.

I have to say I think Aimee Fuller is doing a great job considering the target audience is mostly people who probably have never seen a winter sport aside from a snowball fight :D

people who don't know the difference between: been and being. Its not just on this board, although its seems to have swapped meanings here, but in everyday life.

You should try a US rock-climbing competition. It's a whole new level of makey-uppey terminology and cutesy high-fiving. Still both fantastic sports to watch though.

Not the first time this happened, when I'm running on the footpath and two or three people are walking towards me about 50 metres ahead. Plenty of time to see me coming, but instead of one of them moving to one side behind his buddy to let me pass, they take up the whole path and force me onto the road.

    This x 1000

There's only f'ing one of me, I can't make myself any smaller.

Irish celebrities running. You'd swear they invented it. Complete with obligatory mention of Bodybyrne.

Fit Magazine should rename itself: "Clients of Bodybyrne" - Free Joe 90 Glasses with every issue.

People/snobs who demean other runners and yet seem to be totally mediocre themselves

I know it wasn't my rant D loves R but I'm gonna lay my cards on the table here. I ****ing hate Irish "celebrity " "runners". In the grand scheme of things I'm a pretty mediocre runner but I can say without a shadow of a doubt I can absolutely smoke (by many minutes over any distance) toolboxes like Keith Duffy, Sile Seoige, Kathryn Thomas and "Body" Byrne- its **** like this that keeps me running, so I can be a smug bastard on the Internet!

But are you collecting as much for charities when you run or getting appearance fees?

Rant extension - Irish celebrities in general.

Interestingly enough running celebrities are not anywhere near as annoying as celebrity runners e.g. David Gillick

And funny enough all Irish celebs seem to belong to a clique as well. Lol. The clique where you can be as moranic and as mediocre as you like as long as you can lick some arse. ;)

Celebrities who chop and change what they want to be known as and celebrities who turn to politics. For what. Vote for me because I used to be an alcoholic and took drugs, even though I have no interest in politics or never voted before.

    Ken, Kenny, Kenneth Egan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,196 ✭✭✭PaulieC

Speaking at the Louis Fitzgerald hotel on the Naas Road in Dublin where he was introduced as the candidate, Mr Egan confessed he “didn’t know much about politics or anything to do with politics” .
My name is going to get me over the line.

What makes me really angry about this is that people will vote for him "coz he's famous".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

If you listened to any of his interviews lately, such as with Matt Cooper or Nial Boylan it's obvious he's in way above his head. And as you say, he sadly may get voted in because of who he is.

While I agree with the majority of your rant, let's not forget the reason he was known in the first place was for winning a silver Olympic medal - lost his way a bit after that but that achievement deserves to be acknowledged.

How many Irish politicians are not in over their heads, either over their heads or up to their necks. In rural areas a Dail seat is something to be passed on to your off spring an inheritance of sorts. Don't think Kenny Eagan is going to undermine the democracy of the country by getting a county council seat. We have a muppet show of independants that were supposed to breath new life into Irish polictics but it remains much the same **** it always was.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Existing politicians are irrelevant, that's neither here nor there and doesn't make this move any better.

The whole situation stinks. FG are going to lose seats hand over fist in the local elections and they are resorting to this kind of carry on to try to staunch the bloodflow. FG get to keep their numbers up while the good folk of Clondalkin are left with a has-been* who knows nothing about politics representing them.

    * yes I know he won a medal once
