I'd be willing to suffer it if it set me on the path the young man in the back went down, well all the good bits anyway

First thing being asked when you arrive in A & E "how would you like to pay?" Should have replied with "time" considering i will probably be here longer than the full shift in work tomorrow

I get that the bills have to be paid but could atleast find out whether I would be around to pay off a credit card bill if i chose that payment method.

What ever happened to patient well being, being a priority?

Jaysus. Was scheduled for a minor proceedure yesterday. Appointment was for 8.30am. I was seen to on time, and was out the door at 9.15am. Not bad on the surface but I would be impressed with the system had I not been waiting 18 months and 3 cancellations for the appointment in the first place

Too late at this stage, but if there's one near you I'd recommend one of the VHI Swiftcare Clinics if there's an unfortunate next time. You don't have to be a VHI member and on the occasion I had to use it, broken collar bone, I was seen to right away, x-rayed and sent home in less than 1.5/2 hours. This was a Sunday morning and the waiting time was mostly for the x-ray machine. A couple of years later my wife or daughter, can't remember who, went for something on a Sunday afternoon and were out within the hour.
Agree about the fast service but they can be very expensive. I had occasion to go recently and was lucky I had to have stitches so it was considered a 'procedure' and my VHI covered it. I had to pay €30 for a tetanus shot, an x-ray would have cost €90 (per x-ray) if I needed one. If I didn't have cover my visit would have cost over €200 euro, although it was quick.

True, but the list of procedures that they can deal with is quite short and if there is any doubt at all, they will suggest you go to a public hospital with a full range of doctors available. This is especially true for a suspected broken bone in a child. The Swiftcare clinics have no paediatricians on the staff, so if they are unsure at all about an X-ray, they will take your money anyway, tell you to go to Tallaght or Crumlin, where they will insist that the X-ray is retaken.

Having experienced the hell of A&E I'm willing to pay the cash, although if you've private health insurance some of it may be covered depending on your plan. Thinking back it wasn't my child I brought there, it was my wife but I did also get to enjoy Temple Street A&E.

Not the first time this happened, when I'm running on the footpath and two or three people are walking towards me about 50 metres ahead. Plenty of time to see me coming, but instead of one of them moving to one side behind his buddy to let me pass, they take up the whole path and force me onto the road.

I get that one all the time. It's like they think because they're 'pedestrians' that they have more of a right of way to use the path than you (a runner) does. Idiots!

There I was enjoying a walk & talk session with the girls the other night and this very rude guy in spandex comes running towards us !!
I'm sure he was waiting for one of us to move out of the way, but we showed him, the big boll1x !!

    • the amount of oul lad's in the Ben Dunne gym in Kimmage walking around/chatting/having the craic b*ll*k naked. It's disgusting. Get changed quickly and get the f*ck out. Seriously. Who likes hanging around changing rooms, naked?

    • when you eat your lunch at your desk, headphones in, browsing the net, and some pr*ck comes over to you talking about work stuff. irritates me no end.

    • needing to go for a barry white in the middle of a run. I've a few bushes earmarked around Dublin 6 for this eventually. rave: (afterwards laughing at the rise in my HR as I ran home in a panic needing to go for said barry)

Seriously! If I'm running with someone 2 a breast and someone is coming the other way I'll fall into single file out of courtesy.

Irish celebrities running. You'd swear they invented it. Complete with obligatory mention of Bodybyrne.

Fit Magazine should rename itself: "Clients of Bodybyrne" - Free Joe 90 Glasses with every issue.

Pulling a calf at the furthest point on my loop yesterday evening, nobody at home to collect me so suffered the ignominy of walking home at rush hour when everyone was driving home by me.

But for the Rave thread, guilt free enjoyment of a selection of 8 Degree ales, porters and blondes while watching the rugby for the afternoon.

Looks to me like yourself and Ososlo could spend a very pleasant 90 minutes complaining about Garth Brooks. Just saying ....;)
