There's a film out there somewhere called Birth of the Beatles. Taped it when I was a kid. Must've watched it a hundred times.

I believe the George Harrison ended up in Eastenders.

    Must hunt it down.

    Outstanding! Give it a watch!

It's a while since I've seen it now, so no guarantee of quality... :-D

Edit: but don't tell me you don't want to break the stage in the Kaiserkeller!

I will do, I'll watch anything to do with the Beatles so that looks like fun.

I see some of the parts of the Backbeat film have been deleted from Youtube, unfortunately.

I'm sure it's out there on the Internet somewhere.

Haven't seen it in ages. Sure I can get the dvd for nothing these days.

I suddenly feel like watching eight hours of anthology, though. :-)

Donie, you have to listen to Dark Side of the Moon with headphones and get back to us.......

A little calmer for the nerves goes well to accompany it too....;)

I see what you're saying...they're one of those bands you have to listen to their albums from start to finish, instead of the 'singles'.

    Spot on WM....

"Another Brick on the Wall" was about the only one you could listen to without feeling cheated...

I loved David Gilmore's solo work..

That was usually the American side of the record company, insisting that British bands have 'cuts' on the album that can be released as singles to take to US radio.

Zeppelin famously never released singles in the UK, but in the States there was one single release per album.

    Shine on you crazy diamond........

Possibly (Bill) one of the finest songs ever.........

I don't get the whole Syd Barrett stuff. Pink Floyd were a much better band when he left them - a bit like The Manic Street Preachers when Richey wasn't around. There seems to be a collective guilt about Syd Barrett when it comes to the band members of Pink Floyd, which is unnecessary.

The guitar solo on 'Comfortaly Numb', regarded as the greatest of all time.
