Girl receives death threats after downing a goldfish http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/neknomination-girl-who-swallowed-goldfish-in-video-receives-death-threats-29978666.html

No links to the video yet, sorry
no better way to show concern and outrage over this then to make death threats, hopefully the vermin who made such threats will be swiftly dealt with by being arrested, showing concern for other living things by making death threats invalidates any argument the person making the threats has

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

I sincerely hope the people who sent the death threats are just crappy trolls... If anyone sincerely sends a death threat over something like that, it'll be hard to have any faith left in humanity at all.

I was having a pint with an old friend of mine yesterday evening, a retired old war-horse from the brewery trade. The conversation turned to these here modern new-fangled Internet drinking games. "Amateurs", he says, "Feckin' drinking naggins a' vodka with yer head down the jacks. Try driving all day, covering three counties and calling to about three dozen pubs, havin' a pint and a half-one in each!". :D

I'd refine that - the UK is pretty much done as far as Internet freedom goes. You can use Tor and i2p bu that still leaves the principle that one can't express certain things under one's own name - that's just the UK. We don't have to allow Ireland to go the same way and I for one am determined to do whatever I can to make sure we don't.
Using TOR and the like is enough to get you flagged by intelligence agencies. Well, it was a while back, and with the fact that it's pretty much been cracked at this stage means ya might as well be posting on the open internet while holding a big red flag over your head.
With our links to the UK and being part of the Anglosphere I don't think our geographic location is all that important. Ireland is one of the few English-speaking countries as far as I can see that haven't been mentioned in leaks so far but that could be down to us supposedly not having any kind of spies. It's already done as far as I'm concerned. :(

Ive seen two Neknominations on my facebook feed this morning...Both were vile.

The first guy had Rum,Carling , a live worm, contact lense solution, comfort fabric softener, burger sauce, chipper curry, chipper gravy..: and other stuff i cant remember.eek:

The other one had loads of household products like shampoo and stuff...

Absolutely vile, bet they are still puking now..

How long before we see more deaths by some idiot drinking weed killer or some other poisonous substance?

Its in the post, mark my words.

What in the actual fcuk is wrong with some of these people? These prime examples are thankfully in the minority of their generation but I'd be wary to allow them to hold a position with any power. They are clearly lacking in sense, thats for sure.

Sadly, trying to give advice on how to not be a knob to some of the 18-23 generation and have them take some notes would be like trying to get blood from a stone.

Where are you getting the idea that it's cracked from? One of the documents Snowden published was a "Tor Stinks!" powerpoint for NSA employees effectively telling them that the organization had had incredibly minimal success at cracking Tor. There doesn't seem to be much evidence that the UK has done any better - I would say it's still relatively safe. Personally I use it to get to websites which Eircom has recently blocked, websites which kick ass if you get my drift ;)

Even so, as this incident and the ask.fm incident show, our government is effectively powerless when it decides it doesn't like something on the internet and wants it removed. Facebook and ask.fm respectively essentially told the Irish government to f*ck themselves. :D

    Theres a surprise.

Sorry, SSL is completely cracked. But didn't the FBI recently get their hands on a ****ton of emails related to it. Using it is enough to put a red flag over you. The Snowdon stuff is a few years old now, it's rare for something to be around this long and still be un-cracked. (Ran out of words there :pac: )

It won't be long til the ISPs have similar filters as the UK and it wouldn't surprise me if we do the usual and go one step further/stupider when copying the UK.

This is really talkng it too far. I play drinking games with my buddies - losing team at bowling shotguns a beer (330ml). If you find a breezer someone has hidden you have to down it.

These are not smart or clever I know but they are fun and livens up the evening but when I heard about this yesterday the first thing I thought was WTF. Tragic needless loss of life and unfortuntely some people always have to take it too far

I think it's time for rack nomination, it will start off with tasteful cleavage and descend into full on, full hog bosom glory with all of the associated condemnation. All of your female friends on Facebook will try to compete to outdo each other.
If I had breasts I would start it, do we have any boards volunteers to kick things off???

Such a great idea I googled it to see if someone thought of it. Alas no.

It says she shared the photo to show parents what their kids are doing. Doesn't seem so bad if she meant well by it. It's not like she was bragging about it. Just a warning to other parents.

Just saw the South African neknomination on youtube and to be fair that's the way it should be done if we want the world to be a better place.

I unfriend anyone who posts up anything about neck nominations or any of the other stupid types. It's just the nost rudicolous nonsense and honestly, if people don't realise the dangers of downing a full bottle of vodka and copious other amounts of alcohol then they deserve everything they get. The videos of people doing lines of coke, pills, vodka and paint thinner look like audition tapes for the Darwin Awards.

It's tragic that some young people have died but all this talk of further restrictions on alcohol will solve nothing. Once again the government and various vested interests will penalise the majority for the stupidity of a few. The media has used the popularity of this to sell papers by linking a few deaths to it with little actual evidence. Neknominations have bit been responsible for anyone's death. Rather sheer stupidity and a lack of maturity are to blame.
