You can do something nice without recording it and sharing it on Facebook. It's complete attention seeking.
This is what happens if you do a good deed and keep it to yourself:

I was homeless in the Netherlands in the 90's, and at the time i wouldn't have given a shít if you took my picture if you gave me a chicken roll, OP I think it's a great idea. Help someone in need out, it makes two people feel good IMO

I am always late to the party, this is the first I've heard of this!

I was in Dublin CC the on Wednesday last and was on Henry/Mary St.
Was heading into Debenhams and outside at the door was a lad, he was about 15. He didn't look like an addict etc, just unwashed and cold, miserable and thin and tbh he reminded me of my oldest child a bit(couldn't have been more than a year in the difference of age).
He was asking people for money saying "Have you anything to spare, I'm starving?"

I did something I have never done before.
I walked straight through Debenhams, into the Ilac and down to McDonalds.
I ordered a Tea and a chicken wrap to take away.
Went straight back to give this to the young lad. While walking back I'm thinking "What if he tells me to F off?".
Anyway, get back outside and the fecker is gone!!
Now, whats the problem, you say?

Well, I have been trying to lose a bit of the Xmas excess and had to eat the fu*king thing myself like an eejit. :o
    True story folks:D

    Karma, eh?

Couldn't be that because I displayed an understanding of your post smidge but uch might have mistakenly taken my post as a misunderstanding of your post and related to me through this misunderstanding in writing his post which in itself would have to have been a misunderstanding of my post because mine was relating to the last thing you said in yours and showed a good comprehension of your post as a whole.

    Que?

There is nothing worse than a misunderstanding of an understanding.

No Bobby is a mate of Ryan, who nominated him. I hope I get picked next, like how can I help the homeless guy without making a video?

If I decide to do something nice for anyone I certainly won't be broadcasting or taping or filming it and putting it on Facebook or youtoob, if it is worth doing and if people are genuine then there should be no advertising of the act or glory hunting like the WANs on Joe Duffy talking about how they went and paid for someone's shopping in tesco, they went in with their mammy who obviously footed the bill for the stunt!

Tomorrow it's nomnomination where you nominate someone (while filming yourself) to film themselves nominating someone.

Unless someone gives me a brand new car or a yacht as an act of kindness they can go f*ck themselves.

I believe in this Random Act of Kindness malarkey. I regularly do RAKs and don't tell anyone about them (in before "but you're telling us now") and I hope that whoever is the receiver thinks about how nice it felt and decides to pay it forward. Spreading the happiness.

As for the RAKnominations. I don't use facebook much so haven't seen it. There has recently been one started in a forum I'm in though and we nominate each other to do little RAKs but they're anonymous in so far as the receiver doesn't know that's what's happening (unless they happen to be involved in the thread). We pretty much come back and say "done" and nominate the next person. It's a nice warm fuzzy thread.

As for filming them and posting them on FB, meh, if it's ultimately making the world a better place then what harm.

If it encourages people who wouldn't do something good to do it, then does it really matter what the motive is? Something nice is getting done.

It's like charitable activities by companies. Usually done to promote goodwill for the company and increase business, but charities are benefiting so it's all good in my opinion!
