You already have a plan to hurt your own kids should they turn out gay...

No plan in place buddy. Just not sure how I would react. I know how I think is wrong by today's standards but it's ingrained in me I think.... my wife had told me that sometimes I remind her of Clint Eastwood in gran torino.... Not really sure how to take that! !

Nicorette gum girls! Can have it in front of small children, in the car with same, while dealing with annoying clients, is cheaper........... Is far handier than fags and still takes the grumpy nicotine depravation (as above :p) away instantly.

Will your gay son be the "unforgiven"?

I think it's disappointing that you'd cut your own child off like that. On the other hand I know it's hard to get out of that mindset, it's very common in our society and, to my shame, I must admit that until relatively recently I would have had similar thoughts on the issue. The thing is though, it is just a cultural bias, and I'd strongly encourage you, for the sake of yourself as well as any children you might have, to at least make an effort to change your mind.

As for voting no for any reason on the referendum, I think it's a very unfair thing to do. Voting yes makes absolutely no difference to you. Voting no has a negative impact on the lives of many people.
You have a point. If I don't vote I don't hurt anyone so maybe that's what I should do. ..

Hmm. Perhaps take it like she would biatchslap you GOOD if you stood in the way of your kid's wedding (potentially a SSM, since you brought it up :D). That's what i'd do to Clint in gran torino.....

Yes,, yes (she says impatiently...). I'm WAY past gum and into the 4th month nicotine free. Dear oh dear, how did I ever do without hard drugs nicotine?

But yeah, the nicotine replacement is the shiz. Had the patches on till last month. Even cut them in half for a finish. Still want a fag :(

Cigarette, that is folks!! Just to be clear....if I want anal sex, I don't have to find a GAY (god forbid!)! None of us need to go THAT far ;-)

Well, My big gay world right now consists to chatting to you on a discussion forum while promising myself I will quit the fags (har har :p) and wondering if I have a cup of coffee will it keep me awake all night.

Tomorrow I am going to do some work and then walk my dogs (the males seem to be bisexuals and the females will take the head off any gender that tries it so the jury is out as to their Big Gayness) and then go the big gay chemist to get my big gay drugs that stop big gay diabetes from making me an ex-gay on account of being dead and then I am going to do my big gay shop in Aldi.

Later I will make my big gay girlfriend a big gay dinner as she can't boil an egg. Then we will watch the last episodes of The Bridge.

The next day my Grand children will come to stay for the weekend. I don't know if either of them will grow up to be Big Gays as they are only aged 7 and 4 but I am hoping the girl will be a scientist as she has a flair for it and the boy is very interested in cooking but I hope he isn't a chef as that is a crap job.

It's the way you people flaunt your perverse lifestyle that sickens me the most.

Just believe that a child is best served with a male and female parenting influence. Every effort should be made to keep it like this

I appreciate that may be a genuine belief. But it has proved not to be accurate by 30 years of research.

It doesn't make any difference to the child's development as long as they have a stable, loving home.

If a belief has been proven to be inaccurate, isn't it time to re-examine it?

Just watched Hunted on Channel 4. A truly saddening and upsetting piece of television. Unbearable to watch, and they only showed the lighter side of abuse footage. I defy anyone to watch it, and still deny gay and lesbian people the happiness and equality they need and deserve. Ireland should be up there with the other countries at the forefront of a better world.

maybe ask your wife what she would think if you would not accept your child if gay, refuse to go to their wedding, and potentially drive the family apart?

after all, your response affects her too. and if you do have kids with her, you should both go into with the same intentions and love for your child.

    Really?

I don't know you're marital status, but let's assume you are married to the love of your life.

How would me getting married to the love of my life three years later in any way affect your marriage, never mind destroy it.

genuinely interested in a reasoned response.

Single, and I don't view civil marriage as marriage for starters whether heterosexual or homosexual, the idea of the state being involved is such a turn off.

When told a relation was married recently in a registry office, had to pretend to be happy for them rather than cause upset by telling what I really thought.

I will never vote yes to civil marriage, I want it abolished.

Why the fcuk do you care so much about what other people do to cement their relationships?? Seriously, like. Do what makes you happy, but let everyone else do their thing. Is that really beyond your capacity?

You seem to care about having a specific kind of relationship - civil marriage.
I can oppose the state involvement in marriage if I want to.

I was responding to someone, which I was entitled to.

We're mostly just wondering why it is that you 'want to' oppose it. So far your reasons have been, well, not very good.

And we can treat this "opposition" with all the seriousness it deserves.

Other than conveniently covering your ass as a rationale for opposing equal marriage, what form does this "opposition" take? Do you picket registry offices? Have you campaigned for the repeal of all statute law on marriage, right back to the 1753 Act? informed everyone that you don't consider them married at all, unless it's happened in a church? (Presumably the right sort of church, too.)
