A novel yet entertaining way to cut the dole bill would be to make two recipients fight each other to the death for the right to survive on the dole.

Or fight an employed person for their job.

Scrap the 3day week if you can find a part time job shouldn't have issues finding another that pay for 2 days

Scrap the medical card for all except those with terminal or life changing illnesses

They're already entitled to do that.

But scumbags on the dole buy alcohol and cigarettes, therefore giving the money back to the government in taxes.

Mods, where do you dump these sh1te threads?
Not agreeing with taxpayers funding alcohol for layabouts is trolling?
No expecting this to go on forever is taken the proverbial if you know what I mean.

I trade them for Flora. Just because I'm poor doesn't mean I am not heart conscious.

I see the auld 'scrap mickey money' line has been trotted out....

It's all the unmarried mothers fault.

Sometimes this kip is exactly like it was in the 1980's, it was pathetic then and it is pathetic now.

Unemployment benefit should be payed as normal to help an unemployed person back to work.
A person on benefit should not have to jump through hoops but should be offered friendly helpful support to get back into employment.

People who are healthy and do not qualify for unemployment benefit and require unemployment assistance should be treated very differently.
These people should get a debit card that can not be used for the purchase of alcoholic drinks or tobacco products along with a list of other non essential luxury items.

What if someone simply cannot get a job despite trying? Perhaps because they are in their fifties and younger applicants are preferred, or for any other reason? And don't come out with the claptrap that 'there are always jobs for people who look for them' because people I know can testify otherwise.

    Wouldn't work.

What's stopping me buying your €50 worth of shopping with my debit card and then you give me €50 cash to make up for it. I can spend that on what i like.

No its not unmarried mother's fault ,

But why should anyone be financially rewarded for up to 20+ years for what exactly ohh yes they choose to have one or multiple children and need to be rewarded for that decision

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,173 ✭✭✭hucklebuck

So you're going to implement a new debit card system, and get every shop in the land to cooperate by categorising their wares into luxuries and essentials, to save money how? They're still getting the money, you just think that your almighty Taxpayer status gives you the right to decide what they spend it on? Right...!

Did you ever think that the money going on essentials for spouses/ partners/ children rather than booze, smoking and gambling is a better way of using the free money they get?

Plenty of stories about children in school hungry and medical evidence to prove hunger/ starvation affects children cognitively and socially but you are right let their parents drink smoke and gamble and **** the future

I have no issue with people who have worked and cannot get work getting full dole for a year or two but longer than that it should be €30 a week.

Sick of hearing about all this ****e lately a brickie is on the dole for 3 years and they can't get work, there is work out there but they are happy to sponge off the state rather that take a job on less than €4,000 a week.

Do the dealers still take the butter vouchers for a ten spot?

    Rewarded?

Do you know what we should do with them?, shoot them and their kids.

Or maybe you could try the view that the children have a right to a basic existence.

Too radical a thought for you?

PC crowd aren't going to like this .
Or just the non stupid crowd?
E.g. people who don't say stuff like the following:
    Gatling wrote: »

    Yeh, punish the kids.
Scrap the 3day week if you can find a part time job shouldn't have issues finding another that pay for 2 days
That's superb forensic analysis and so well backed up. The tiny factor of the person not being able to find a full-time job is a mere trifle. And it's surely better that they work part-time than not work at all?
Scrap the medical card for all except those with terminal or life changing illnesses
Yeh! No other people deserve medical cards.

    Sigh... Fuk me!
