Cheers for the interest Mango Salsa - the project's in Galway. For clarity, this project is more about creating a community event space, and a place for free courses in sustainable skills to be held. Unfortunately one publication picked up on it as a "moneyless pub", which obviously catches the imagination, but it's far more than that. Have a read of the blurb and that should be clear.

As for jibes about being a moneyless millionaire, scam artist etc. it's seriously unclear where you are coming from though I'd be happy to discuss it. For one thing, though I'm sure the author himself could clarify it better, in a very unusual move for an author the books are available for free online under creative commons. This crowdfunding campaign is entirely separate, a communal initiative which we foresee benefiting hundreds, possibly thousands of people. Would perhaps be more constructive to aim criticisms at bankers, ruthless capitalists, power-hungry politicians etc. Maybe hippies shouldn't be your biggest concern

David Holmgren, co-originator of permaculture, recently spoke out about the necessity to move towards "largely non-monetary household and local community economies" in his widely discussed recent article, 'Crash on Demand'. If Holmgren is correct, in order for permaculture principles and praxis to form an integral part of whatever comes next, permaculture is not only going to have to pioneer the practical ways in which we meet our physical needs by closing the loop, but also the spirit in which we close it. One route towards this would be for permaculture to meet the emerging, but ancient, idea of the gift economy.

Secondly, your definition of wealth seems to be skewed towards the financial/monetary. Look up Jodha's paradox for one, the phenomenon of being income poorer, yet better off.
