Molly's having a day of firsts today. She's played in her first cardboard box and sat on the laptop keyboard for the first time, I then had to spend a few minutes trying to figure out how to undo what she'd done. She's making me feel better anyway, I've had a cold for weeks and my nose is so itchy it's making me crazy:D

Meeting first potential foster dog at the end of the week. Fingers crossed my dog likes him and behaves herself with him. :)

:) all going well so far. He's a timid but calm little thing but already coming out of his shell a bit. he's a real sweetheart and loves his cuddles. You can't see from the pic but he's quite skinny so needs plenty of good food and tlc and we're good for that. He and our dog seem to like each other but he's a little nervous and she's a bit over the top but no animosity other than the odd little growl from my lady if he's showing too much interest in her rear end! He doesnt know how to play:( (yet;)).
I don't think we're going to be very good at this fostering business :o He doesnt respond to the name the rescue gave him (and it's our neighbours childs name!) so I've been going through all sorts of names all evening but he doesnt respond to any... need to work on that! He is lovely... just lovely and settling in nicely. Likes to stay at my feet.
When he's more settled we'll see about a bath.... those feet look sore:(

Tea tree, he is really beautiful. How old? GREAT that he and your dog are getting on ok. What is it with his feet? They look a bit red? You could always bathe them with a little warm salt water on a sponge? Though when hes settled, being a spaniel, he shouldnt mind having a bath - hah! Poor little chap - he will hopefully soon settle when he sees that he's safe and gets used to his new environment. Major brownie points for you for having him xxx

About a year old. I think he's been licking his paws a lot so they're just sore from that.... vet saw him this morning and (I'm told) just said a bath and good food etc and hopefully it'll improve. I'll keep an eye on it.
He's very calm for a spaniel.... I think there might be a bit of collie in there but I imagine the spaniel loopiness will emerge soon enough!

Yep, he looks like he's been fed on cheap enough food with a colourant in it, that may well be irritating his skin. A good grain free food without any artificial additives or colourants, or better again a fresh diet to give his system a rest from dry food, it could possibly be a reaction to storage mites.

We've started him on Barking Heads which works well with Dog #1 along with little bits of whatever meat is going. I think the vet said to maybe put some oil in his food too?

A tin of sardines once or twice a week will be good for him too, or some salmon oil if you can get some rather than vegetable or sunflower oil

In the vets with Bailey this evening and a van from a cat and dog rescue pulls up across the road..next a woman is carrying a basket across the road - I was sure it must be full of lovely kittens or puppies!!...but it was just toys they're selling to raise money lol :p Anyways Bailey has soft tissue damage to one of his toes - nothing broken and nothing in his pad. He was limping so badly this afternoon I decided I wanted to take him over for peace of mind if nothing else!
I've been working from home all week and the two of them are camped out on my bed asleep all day lol!

I'm literally baffled by how mental everyone has gone about GB. My whole facebook page has been full of posts about him today lol. Even people I wouldn't have thought would be country music fans. Gas! He'd easily sell out a 4th show going by the sounds of it.

    .

:o It's the giving back bit I think we won't be good at! Already getting attached. Walking two dogs whose noses are taking them off in different directions will take a bit of getting used to though!
They're holding off on neutering him til he has some weight on and he won''t be adopted til he's neutered, so the plan is to re-assess in a few weeks.

I don't get the Garth Brooks thing either

Yup, delighted their admitting vets don't really have a clue when it comes to nutrition. I used to work in a pet shop and the amount of customers who came in saying "the vet said she/he needs a diet with less than 20% protein" that's fine if you want your dog skin and bones!

Really hope for my mams sake there will be a 4th date, he's been her favourite singer all my life. I felt so guilty not being able to get her two :(

It's crazy kitty time here at the moment. Jazzy and Molly are galloping around every room in the house. Molly decided to squeeze under the bath while I was in the shower, Toby was on the landing meowing for me to come out and play with him and Poppy was waiting on the stairs for me, I can't remember the last time I got the bathroom to myself:D

Oh I hate him! I had a summer job years ago that used to play his cd all day on a loop! Every time I hear one of his songs I'm transported back in time mopping floors :p

Thanks I'll give it a watch tomorrow!

I know I hate the whole designer dog fad and everything that goes with it... But some of these dogs are friggin adorable! Hopefully all these were caused by accidental matings and all pets were neutered after...!

Got up this morning to find the cat in the dogs bed with an open 6 pack of chilli crisps, with a couple of the packets empty and licked clean!

    I think he was framed!

The dog has a pink beard with a distinct chilli aroma.

Problem is though that link will be viewed by millions and there will be a certain percentage of bybs and puppy farmers that will think "hey there's a $$cute$$ mix I hadn't though of before, there's bound to be demand for it....and there'll be a large percentage of consumers reading it that think "gorgeous, I want one!" without a thought or consequence for where they get it :(

Also there's no warnings on the page, it's the 'good news' page, nothing about the dangers and consequences to the dogs of cross breeding. The Huff post is hugely popular in the states too:mad:

    Jeez,
At least half of them look like any one of dozens of dogs you could meet on any given day in any one of Ireland's pounds :-o

"This mix of a Siberian husky and a poodle and you'll wonder why anybody pays for pure-bred dogs."

If they had just added.."when you can adopt a cute mix like this from a rescue" or similar it would have been lovely.

You'd wonder how many of those designer breeds were actually bought. I think it's fair game if you get a cute lovable mutt from a pound or rescue but still find it crazy that people but these dogs and claim they are some new breed. I had to keep my mouth shut on my last placement when someone came in with a "morkiepoo" saying it was a newly developed hypoallergenic breed because if I said what I was thinking I probably would have failed my placement :pac:

On a happier note though, I am currently en route to Dublin to go to the zoo tomorrow! Felt horribly guilty though, Dude was bawling as we left the house even though my dad is there to mind him!

Awww, dude will be fine, your dad can have sneaky cuddle in peace ;)

Have fun at the zoo, hope the weather is good for you.
Scrubbed the litter trays and 3 bathrooms this morning, did three loads of washing and mopped floors, all before lunch, these days off are killing me!
