A few of the papers are saying that Parsons will partner AOS in midfield. Big opportunity for him if that's the case.

It's also being said that Jason Gibbons will be given a chance on Sunday, surely he would be put in ahead of Parsons?

All in all it's a great opportunity for the younger players that have been bubbling under the last few years to finally give it a serious crack. Horan has more or less stood by the same group of players for the last three years, fresh blood is badly needed in the team, especially in the forwards.

Sunday is a hard one to call, Mayo are probably behind Kildare fitness wise but there is no denying the talent that exists in the team. I won't be too disappointed with a loss if the young guns can give a good showing

Kildare looked to be farely flying in the O Byrne cup final, could be a tough day out in Newbridge.

Aye VERY impressed with them the other day, but this is Kildare! They are like our little sister, when big things are expected they can't get over the hurdle.
I expect a tight match with a 2 or 3 point swing either way.

Not sure about Jason G, he has got a good few chances and failed to make a serious push for a 1st team place, maybe this is his chance now. Good to see Tom Parsons given a go.

It will be a long drive Sunday. Hope the weather is pleasant for us.

    Team for Sunday

MAYO: Rob Hennelly (Breaffy); Kevin Keane (Westport), Ger Cafferkey (Ballina Stephenites), Colm Boyle (Davitts); Lee Keegan (Westport), Shane McHale (Knockmore), Brendan Harrison (Aghamore); Tom Parsons (Charlestown Sarsfields), Aidan O’Shea (Breaffy); Cathal Carolan (Crossmolina), Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis), Adam Gallagher (Mayo Gaels); Kevin McLoughlin (Knockmore), Andy Moran (Ballaghaderreen), Darren Coen (Hollymount/Carramore).

I like the look of the forwards. Higgins continues at half forward which is the right call imo, then you have Gallagher, Coen and Carolon with the chance to impress.

Not much change from the last FBD game however with injuries and others with their clubs Horan doesn't have many options. Kildare are missing a few on Sunday also which should balance things out.

Not sure about Boyle starting in the corner again. Was ropey enough against the Rossies there. But you can experiment with positions in the league and the likes of Harrison and McHale deserve a chance in their favoured positions. Good to see Zippy start in the forward role again

3 of the starting forwards used to be defenderss, Higgins/McLoughlin/Moran. Personally think McLoughlin should be given a few games from the bench to see if he could influence a game when introduced. We all know what he brings to the table when started so maybe a further chance should be given to someone new to see if they can stake a claim.

What is the point of having online tickets available for league games when you can't print them at home?

Good to see the half forwards not including another AOS experiment

When Barry Moran,SOS return will Horan choose one of them in the half forward line?

Yeah not so sure about starting Colm Boyle at corner back, he was ill at ease in the FBD game against Roscommon. He's a half back through and through, corner back doesn't suit his game.

Whats the story with this pre purchase price reduction on tickets? Is this available only to non season ticket holders?

What sort of player is Brendan Harrison? Haven't seen much of him..

Any word on if evan regan has been approached about joining the senior panel. He seems to be flying at the moment .Scored 10 points the other night for sligo it 6 from play and gave the monaghan all star cornerback a roasting

He won't be for the moment. He is captain of the 21's so wants to concentrate on that. Heard a rumour as well that he is heading away for the summer once college exams are finished so wouldn't make much sense for him to be part of the panel if that is the case.

Heard he's seriously considering switching to his father's county :pac:

I wish. Evan probably just needs a year out after his experience last year, I don't see him not joining the senior panel in 2015 when he won't have underage training on his plate as well.

Is there any way to add a Cairde Mhaigheo ticket holder to a standard season ticket seating group ?

Nope. The Cairdre Mhaigheo members have a poor service as season tickets. At least I suppose their details weren't on view for everyone to see :pac:

And got.. Big mayo support. Mostly season ticket holders as far as I could make out. Big queue to get into game as steward said they only got three scanners from head office!

Ye were probably unlucky not to get at least a draw today, it was a terrific game played in a good spirit. Aidan O'Shea was harshly black carded and was obviously a huge loss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,280 ✭✭✭✭DARK-KNIGHT

Hard luck today lads that black card was harsh... good hard fought game though both sides did themselves justice

Also have to hand it to ye as ye had great support at the game great to see...

Great support from us today, not many counties in Ireland can match us in that regard..

It was a great game. Kildare made it look easy taking their scores..

Some positives to take though. Andy looks back to his old self. Gibbons had a great game from the bench. A Gallagher and Carolon looked lively and kev mc looked sharp.

Thought McHale and Keegan done well too. We go to omagh with confidence despite the result..

Yeah there was great support there today, lots of positives to take out of this cracking game.Shane McHale is a real prospect,Jason Gibbons was excellent when he came in,ditto Brian Gallagher.Adam Gallagher gives me real grounds for optimism up front. He has the potential to be a serious forward.
Best game I've seen from Kevin McLaughlin in manys a long day, good in general play.Freetaking was good although he missed a vital one.
Have'nt watched the game back yet but I thought Aidan O Shea deserved his black card.I thought Andy Moran had a poor game,at times he could'nt get the ball to stick and his lack of pace was noticeable. The experiment with Colm Boyle at corner back should be terminated, that line continues to be a worry.Kevin Keane was caught out badly for the first goal and tested severely today.
Robert Hennelly popped over 3 points in spite of my whinge re a goalkeeper taking frees!:)
