I might be mistaken on this OP, but if I recall correctly, once you sync with iTunes, the IMEI gets stored on the PC. You can then retreive it from there.
You're actually right, just looked it up

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4061
Preferences > Devices > Highlight phone and IMEI should be there. Good feature actually. Make sure that IMEI/number is reported stolen then.

I'd usually have told her that but she just got the phone and don't think she kept that info. Lesson learned I guess

Does she not have find my iphone on her phone?? That'll give you the location of it. Also she'll get the IMEI from her iTunes account that she syncs her music from.

Find my iPhone comes automatically with iCloud now doesn't it?

Assuming she set it up with itunes and has icloud then she should have findmyiphone installed automatically. Unfortunately though FindMyIphone and these other apps only works when the phone is still left on, the scumbag that stole it will more than likely have turned it off shortly after robbing it and then it becomes useless as a method for tracking the phone.

You can however lock the phone or erase it with it which will still work the next time the phone is turned on. Its a piece of mind if nothing else that its erased and her photos and contacts arent on it anymore. Also obviously ring her network provider with the phone number and IMEI and have them block the phone and sim.

Pity she wasn't on Dame st.
At one point last night there were at least 8 Gardai standing over a manhole in the street that had broken.

One thing I've always noticed and found rather jarring is how pretty the Trinity College vicinity of Dublin south of the river is kept looking pretty and inviting while the 'main' street of the city is often neglected. At Christmas time Grafton St and the surrounding area was loaded with lights and O Connell St looked like a cheap afterthought. Is it any wonder that O Connell/Abbey St is in the state it's in when it's being neglected? I'm hoping the connection of the Luas lines might displace that slightly because there is a definite gap going on and it's letting the city down.

I'm sorry for her loss, dude. iOS 7 has a security feature that should render the device useless, though this is little comfort to you unfortunately.

If Find My iPhone is enabled on an iOS 7 device, then if someone attempts to restore the phone, they'll be prompted for the Apple ID and password that the phone was registered to.

Sorry it happened, but at the end of the day it's just a phone. She's still got her health and all that!

I was feeling a bit down a while back about a certain something or other, and somehow found myself on the 'long-term illness' forum here on boards.

Needless to say, perspectives became clear, and the bad mood didn't last long.

2000 photos; whatsapp; Facebook + Facebook Messenger; all of my contacts (so many numbers of good looking girls!); all of my notes (I like to write poetry and ideas for short stories in my spare time); casual internet browsing; email; etc etc. While it's crazy and hilarious to think of how much I needed it to function every day, I do miss it so. But ay, as my best friend said to me the day after, 'it's your phone that's missing, not you.' Perspectives are really important to keep into account in situations like this.

Did you not have a free iCloud account set up that would give you back ups of your pictures (Maybe not 2000 though), contacts, notes etc.

Also Whats app and Facebook are apps so they have your data.

Losing your phone nowadays, whist a pain and expensive should only mean loss of the actual device, all data should be easily recoverable.
With icloud, you just sign your new phone and it starts syncing all your apps, data etc.

Sorry to hear about your G.F.s trouble, if its any consolation here is what happened to one little toe-rag who tried to take a phone off the wrong person in Dublin...

Ok, about 25 minutes ago, I had an altercation with a scumbag.

He was one of the shiny tracksuit clad sub cretinous types that populate the north inner city, especially along the luas line and quays.

I got to the Jervis luas stop just as the tram was pulling away. I looked at the sign for the next tram and it wasn't due for about 5 minutes so I thought "feck it, I'll walk to the four courts and get rather than waiting around".

Off I saunter fro jervis, I crossed the road at the junction with caple street and briefly contemplated popping into Cyclebike for a look around at the pretty bikes.

Cross back over a little further up the road. Had my phone in my hand and was about to put it into my pocket. little prick coming by me attempts to grab the phone out of my hand. He fails, and I shove it into my pocket.

He, in embarrassment or whatever, stops his run (he was running past me) and comes back and faces me and says "Give me the ****ing phone or I'll ****ing clock ya" or something to that effect.

Now, those of you who have met me know I am not a small man. While average height, I'm not average weight and I'm far from shy. This fellow was about my height but about 10 stone weight and as far as I could tell, had no weapon.

In my other hand at the time, in a paper easons bag was a copy of the new Alex Ferguson biography which mammy seaneh had asked me to pick up for her as a gift for one of their friends who is a man united fanatic.

As the little scummer is getting in my face I raise my hands (with the book in my right hand now) and say "not happening bud, walk on, I don't want any hassle".

Little prick gets closer and I instinctively smacker him across the bridge of the nose with the book quickly followed by another smack across the side of the head with the book and a well drawn left boot to the bollocks.

He bends over in pain and them scarpers off shouting back "you're ****ing dead, I'll get you, I'll remember you".

If he had a weapon I would have just given him the phone, no sense in taking the risk. But seeing as I thought I could atleast hold me own with him, I decided "**** this" and defended myself and my possessions as is allowed by the law.

Is there a point to this, or is someone chronically drunk?

    Ennis without a doubt.

Clue is in the thread title. Phone theft in Ennis is epidemic.

My samsung galaxy s3 was stolen the other night from a hotel we were staying in.

It wasnt so much the phone i was worried about its just my life was on it.... photos, contacts etc

My own fault for not having them backed up but none the less, whoever did it was an absolute lowlife

Go to iCloud.com, then the Find My iPhone app. See if it's sending out it's location.

Even if it's not, from there you can brick it so it's not used by anyone else.

It must be hard living in such a cynical world. If I wanted to boost my ego Id hardly go on an anonymous messageboard.

Someone close to me had a really bad experience and I was worried about her.

Maybe people (including my gf) will be more careful around OConnell street based on this.

To be fair to the poster, this world sure is a cynics' paradise, because damn there is a lot to be cynical about and hidden agendas from every direction :p
