HSBC is using (overly) cautious methods after receiving a whopper of a fine for money laundering

It's giving them bad press so they may drop it

The bigger news is how China reacts to a large default coming at the end of the month

Customers were told that without proof of the intended use of their own money, HSBC would refuse to release it.

    mother of god:mad:

"I'm closing my account" would be my reason

You do need physio to adjust to a prosthetic. How the hell do you learn to use it?

...you put it on, then you use it. You'd only need physio if the muscle is wasted and you're trying to use one of the electric ones - ye need a functioning muscle to send a signal to the yoke. Ye can do that with a machine - sends a signal to make the muscle twitch, build it up again.

O, and depending where it was cut off, you may have to deaden the nerve that's about 4 inches down from the elbow, which is a bit of craic.

No, was HBOS they part own.

HSBC is a £125bln market cap company, it's in no danger.

The bank issued a statement (below) this morning defending their actions - it's for your own good - but rescinding the decision - "following feedback, we are immediately updating guidance to our customer facing staff to reiterate that it is not mandatory for customers to provide documentary evidence for large cash withdrawals."

Grand. But the lack of any prospect of cannibal motorbike gangs and the end of society leaves me somewhat disappointed now....

A whopper of a fine my ar$e!! Even more sickening than the pittence fine they recieved is the fact from the moment this broke it was acknowledged that nobody was ar risk of charges, court or prison, only a minimal fine was all that was ever on the cards!!

Also, you'd want to google why the bank was setup originally and imagine if they could possibly survive without dirty cash. So, if they are dropping dirty money maybe this is why they don't have the liquidity to pay out right now, or maybe that's just the impression they want out in the public, it's one to watch...

And what sentences should be given to those who were doing financial dealings with Iran?

Or shall we let that one slide ;)

It's only gone up a couple of percent over the last month, nothing unusual there.

Not a problem. If you do ever get it chopped off, go for voluntary closing hooks, as opposed to voluntary opening. The electric has a way to go before I'd recommend it yet.
