If HSBC goes it would make Lehman look like your local Macaris closing down.

That wouldn't really matter. I didn't have any money in Lehman

Customers were told that without proof of the intended use of their own money, HSBC would refuse to release it.

In all sincerity, I think I would be more upset at my local Macari's shutting down than this bank going bust.

    *long story*

So basically it was Spongebob Squarepants who caused the economic disaster we find ourselves in?

If I was a customer I'd be withdrawing all my cash and buying bitcoins. Rumours of something big going to happen to a Chinese bank next month too.

Leaving aside the financial implications, what about the 260,000 people they employ?

Just tell them that you're withdrawing money to fund a Mexican drug cartel they'll be ok with that

I didn't realise Macari's were doing so well.

What about all the people Macari's employ? Surely the closure of Macari's would result in the complete collapse of the Irish-Italian community. Not to mention the national crisis caused by the shortage of jumbo battered sausages.

Where would drunks congregate to fight after a night out?, would be madness.

probably going to be taken over by an Irish bank

I thought they were restricting cash withdrawals because they got caught laundering money for drug cartels and have to look like they are doing something about it? They are already backtracking on it due to customer outrage.

Reminds me of that American Immigration question; "Are you a [honest and presumably dimwitted] member of a terrorist organisation?
