Apparently there run a "life skills" type course. If I had the time I'd give it a go.

That would be good, any chance you could do it at the weekends or make some sort of arrangement with them?

Going by what I read on their site, I think its time is set in stone.

My clinic have a similar thing too, again I don't have the time presently due to college.

Hey guys what's this meet up eh?
Online chat is it? I actually feel very uncomfortable with the way Samaritans are, I emailed them and they do seem very neutral but I guess that's what they do, I think I was looking for some response haha.
Meds are being upped to 50mg sertraline, ahhhhh!!! I've been too paranoid to take the ability. Anyone happen to take that ?

    http://www.unbelievable-facts.com/2013/07/according-to-scientists-this-is-most.html

"This eight minute song is a beautiful combination of arranged harmonies, rhythms and bass lines and thus helps to slow the heart rate, reduce blood pressure and lower levels of the stress. The song features guitar, piano and electronic samples of natural soundscapes.

A study was conducted on 40 women, who were connected to sensors and had been given challenging puzzles to complete against the clock in order to induce a level of stress. Different songs were then played, to test their heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and brain activity. The results showed that the song Weightless was 11 per cent more relaxing than any other song and even caused drowsiness among women in the lab. It induced a 65 per cent reduction in overall anxiety and brought them to a level 35 per cent lower than their usual resting rates."

AFAIK it's stuff like meditation and breathing but I haven't looked into it in depth. I think they've run it a few years now so it must be popular enough.

I've just checked their site now and apparently there is an online option :)

Fruitcake have you always been on sertraline? I'm on prozac 40mg.

Think I might apply for one of those aware groups when I settle down a bit. Cant do any harm I guess :)

I have a weird work ethic. Once went to work hours after being in casualty for a psych consult and treatment. Workaholic kinda thing I guess. There's a guy here wrecking my head so bad I wish I hadn't bothered - job is not rocket science cop on.... Oh well..

How are the rest of ye?.

I have been on it now for about a 9 days, it's okay so far, well...comparing to when i was on prozac, I was taking 20mg every two days and it made me completely manic haha, how long have you been on the prozac for? it really didn't agree with me at all. :O

Im pretty bad today. Seems like I can only express myself when im going through the panic and crying. It's my thinking that's the problem which is affecting my mood I suppose. I can see the sun outside and its making me feel sick

How's the weekend treating ye all so far?

I don't mean to be too nosy but are any of you in college? Or even just others that find yourselves procrastinating constantly?

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 LanaFey

I'm not too bad this weekend. I've been keeping fairly busy and have a night out planned for tonight, so I'm hoping that'll be fun and I won't ruin it by getting over anxious- socialising can be hit and miss with me! I'm having a hard time subtly avoiding alcohol though, there's been a lot of it going round this weekend.

I'm not in college Hugo but I'm a terrible procrastinator. I think I'll always be a bit like that anyway, but if I'm anxious it gets really bad, I can't concentrate on anything and will spend forever putting off tasks I need to do!

I have to get stuff started for school but I'm doing everything else possible. YouTube is a terrible distraction!

I am. I'm a terrible procrastinator as is but when I'm down I lose motivation to do basic things such as cook or wash so it takes a lot to get me to do college work. I'll put stuff off for days and weeks depending on the deadline. Sometimes doing work can help me because I have something to focus on so I get 'out of my head' so to speak but at my worse I can't concentrate and nothing seems to go right so I get very frustrated and more upset. Being a final year it's pretty stressful (and of course stress makes things worse and a nice vicious circle develops).

That sounds a lot like me there KB

Is there anything you find that helps you break out of the cycle?

Right, it's a different day - how are we all doing? My concentration and motivation are terrible lately.. I don't do my job to my usual level which is scary. I'm going to go book hunting today, see if mindfulness or something can help with the concentration issues..

I'm as anxious as hell here today. Back into college tomorrow which I am really dreading. The next month or so there is particularly important and I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Dog, being an adrenalin junkie, wanted to go out. So we went, and a very large limb of a tree barely missed me.. Reaction was not phew or fright or anything that'd be normal like, nope part wishing it had split me, part wondering would it actually do that or would i just be getting fired due to being on warnings for sick days..
