Lucan has a load of Philips DAB radios out. Model AE5010. 7.50 each (at least 10 there) Nothing else worth buying- they've even started putting out old PS2 crap games.

It doesn't appear to be DAB+ , so not "future proofed".

Battery life is 12 hours on 4 AA's alkaline, so it will eat through batteries, worse than a 1980's walkman playing tapes, a 3G data contract might even be cheaper

Or people just don't look hard enough, this thread is full of people saying I was in there earlier didn't see anything. People are constantly telling me theres no deals but all they do is look in the first crap bin they see and at a few yellow stickers, You need to look at white stickers too, dig around at the back of shelves and most of all to find the bargains you need to scan a lot of stuff, anything that looks like its been there a while, that theres only one of, that doesn't have a SEL, thats been obviously hidden, theres often stuff stashed at the back of shelves, yellow stickered stuff has often been slashed fromt he price on the sticker if its there a while so scan scan scan.

I had a "hilarious" encounter with a member of Tesco staff before Christmas. I asked him "are there any price checkers in this store?". He told me yes and pointed off to the horizon. After what seemed like a walk of several kilometers :roll eyes: I got to the price checker to find it didn't work. So I walk back this time on my way to customer service to check the price and meet the helpful employee again. He asked me "Did you find it?"; I replied in the affirmative but added "but it wasn't working". He then replied with a huge smirk on his face "you didn't ask me was it working" and turned off to the stores giggling to himself. Had I ben in the mood for an argument I'd have asked to see his line manager but I was equally apathetic that day.

That's the kind of customer interaction that'll get you fired someday buddy!

    Food offers (for a change).

Fentimans Botanically brewed Curiousity Cola or Ginger Beer, half price, now 74c (note this offer was supposed to expire on the 2nd of January- but appears to be ongoing- if you can find stock). I can't seem to find any store that has stock of this on the shelf. If you can find it- buy it, its not just a soda, its a revelation. Note- think it may have a very low alcohol content- around 1%

Youngs Chip Shop Batter Cod fillets 3.14, half price. (Not as nice as the beer-batter ones they do, but still nyom......) (If you do buy these- ignore the baking instructions- go for 26-28 minutes @ 200C (if you use the suggested 250C, you'll likely have a house full of smoke).

CDF Baguette Parisienne, reduced to 89c (actually cheaper than Tesco's own Baguette- and far better)

Tesco Finest Portuguese Rose Euro5 a bottle (its discontinued, snap up any final bottles you can find)

Children's clothes- most of the nice things are gone- but have a trawl through the bargain rail- some gems are still to be found, including decent coats etc.

I actually found that very funny, and appreciate his sense of humour. And I guarantee the next time you ask about a price checker, you'll ask if it's working first.

You should be thanking him for making you more intelligent!

No, he should thank me for not getting him fired.

    Power trip much?

All of those price checkers crash, just plug it out and in again or switch it on and off, give it a few seconds to restart. Sometimes the first scan after reboot doesn't work but the second one always does.

Really? Staff member being a d!ck to a customer and I'm the one on a power trip?

To clarify, I wouldn't want him to lose his job, I wouldn't want anyone to lose a job. But if I want sarcasm and smugness I have a number of Ricky Gervias DVDs at home I can put on at any time, I don't expect or need it at 9pm at night when I'm trying to get out of a crazy busy Tesco a week before Christmas whilst struggling to retain the will to live. I let it slide, he may not be do lucky with other customers.

Not to my taste, but peanut butter ice cream may appeal to some.

These were reduced in Arklow to 60 cent for a pack of 3
They were not located in the main icecream section. At the end of an aisle beside some Birds eye chicken curry

Had a walk around the brand new Tesco in Gorey yesterday, couldn't find a scanner anywhere. Anyone else find one or is the way of the future for Tesco?

There is one in the aisle with the kitchen stuff in it, behind the aisle with the games.
