    Lallana, Cabaye or Eriksen???

If you don't/can't have Suarez, then I reckon you need something like:

    Hazard-Yaya-Lallana-Wilshire-Januzaj
    Sturridge-Aguero-Rooney (when fit)

Bold ones above would be necessary, I would say.

Have to pretend he's not playing. (stubborn non-Suarez bet)

Were you drinking when you made that doozy! :pac:

How much do you win? :D

Solid no Suarez team and I'd agree to go with someone else besides Lukaku

I had Lukaku since his move to Everton, got rid of him last night

I'm irrationally trying to figure out how a team with Mata in it works :pac:

Yes I know it's not likely at all but having a contingency in mind isn't a bad thing to have if it does happen...or so I'm telling myself anyway.

At 9.4 he's way too expensive...

This one without Silva. Don't fancy Cazorla but he's the answer to my lack of Arsenal attacking cover until Ramsey is back

    Any thoughts??

I dont like delph at all there, id rather go with Noone, Gnabry or Alex Posuelo(who i will be going with personally)as my cheap 5th mid.

not if he moves to Utd and plays at 80% of what he did last season there...

Well the belief all along was that Mourinho wouldn't sell to a rival. United still have to play City and Arsenal, Mourinho might do Chelsea a favour by letting him go now, you can't be looking a few years down the road, it's not like United won't be able to attract other world class players.
If Mata comes in for a record fee he will be straight into the team, he's a seasoned premier league player, could be a bargain at that price, cheaper than Santi Cazorla, much the same as Silva and a lot cheaper than Ozil. United could become a potent attacking force when at full strength, I'd certainly monitor him if it was to happen.

Last year's Chelsea is a different proposition to this year's Man United; but let's run with it.

Last year, he scored 212 points in 2729 minutes, which is roughly 1 point every 13 minutes, or 7 points every 90 minutes.

In total, Mata played around 80% of available minutes in the league (otherwise, injured, rotated, rested for European games). Assuming similar usage by Moyes, we can expect him to play in around 1150 minutes between now and the end of the season.

If he can reproduce last year's form, that would earn him around 88 points. If he does 80% of what he did, he'd earn around 70 points.

After 22 games (our current gameweek), he'd be looking at around 96 points, which would put him in the same bracket Cabaye, Oscar or Gerrard, and below the heavy hitters Yaya, Hazard, Ozil and cheaper options like Ramsey and Lallana:

    Yaya Toure (136)
    Hazard (135)
    Ramsey (113)
    Lallana (104)
    Ozil (100)
    Cabaye (96)
    Oscar (95)
    Gerrard (94)

A secondary consequence is that Chelsea midfielders like Oscar, Willian would see more game time, and the United forwards (whoever is fit at the time) may see a benefit (Mata had 18 assists versus 11 goals) last year.

For me, if you wanted to gamble on the Mata move happening, I'd get in Willian (7.5, now regularly starting for Chelsea, and owned by only 0.4%) and a United striker (Rooney, if he's back fit -- as he'd likely be pushed further forward if Mata was in the hole).

I don't doubt your statistics there although it seems extraordinary that Mata's FPL production last year was on a par with Gerrard or Cabaye's this year, he seemed much better at the time, outside of Bale I felt that he was the closest thing to a sure thing(along with Walcott) in the midfield.

Thanks. I just threw him in as a cheapie. Noone would be a better option alright
I had looked at Pozuelo earlier in the season but he didn't get enough minutes. Looked there and he had played 90 in the last two games but I think it is because Swansea have been hit hard with injuries

My intentions going in to the bathroom 20 minutes ago were to have a sh1te and a quick look at my team. I came out having successfully had my sh1te but with my wildcard activated also. Opinions please, thank you :)

    Szczesny (Kelvin Davis)
    Sagna Distin Shaw (Ward Whittaker)
    Hazard Yaya Eriksen Januzaj (Oviedo)
    Aguero Suarez Rodriguez.

No, the figure is based on the previous poster's assertion that Mata at 80% of last year's form would be worth the price. If he reproduced last year's form, he'd have been on around 120 points now.

This is where I am currently at.....

Hope to have another 0.1 or 0.2 from rises.

Any random thoughts? If Cabaye goes it will probably be Eriksen or Lallana. Gnabry could well become Noone.

If Coleman is not crocked I can downsize Merts to Kos or Sagna and hopefully just about afford him, if I want to keep him, and I'll probably be scared not to.

If the whole RVP thing doesn't fly I can drop him to any striker and get pretty much any to mid for Gnabry.

It's a punt but I believe it might pay off and if it doesn't it's fixable.

I'm seeing Januzaj in alot of teams and he rises tonight. Are his returns not poor enough though?

Taking an awful risk on RVP too, he wont be match sharp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,340 ✭✭✭G1032

Who are people using for Arsenal attacking cover? Ozil, who I can afford, just isn't returning the points. Giroud is not a better option than Adebayor. Ramsey still isn't back. Wilshere is an option but that money is probably better spent on Lallana.
    Is Cazorla really worth 9.5m?

I'm abandoning Arsenal attacking cover for now. Will wait and see how Ramsey plays when he comes back. The points have been too spread out at present.

I know. May yet leave it a couple of weeks and get set up to do it. But it's Cardiff at home first.... Will see if and how he plays tomorrow. I figure he could have a strong finish to the season and with wildcards played nobody will have him.

Re Januzaj, he is getting more of a key role every game, very unlucky not to get fpl points last time. Worth a try I think. And if I was going back to 4 strong midfielders he'd definitely be my 5th.

I'm half thinking of doing the same. Nothing jumping out at me but they are the league leaders........ seems crazy not to have attacking cover. I might give Cazorla a week or two

Massive team value! Only way I can afford that front 3 is all of my defenders having a max value 4.5, with Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, and two 4.5 mids..

At present 111.5 with resale 107.8.

Want to make it work for me and do something different.

Think I've settled on my WC team except for the last two places, depends if Coleman is out for a while or not, it's down to

    Coleman and Sturridge
    Or
    Baines and Adebayor?

Already have Suarez obviously but Sturridge should rake in the points in the 2nd half of the season as well if he stays fit, Baines is a bonus magnet though; Adebayor is hot/cold which is frustrating as an FF player. Going with puncheon as a cheap 5th midfielder for a few weeks, can't afford Januzaj, Ki is the only other cheapie that FF scout still have on their watchlist but not so sure about him, Puncheon has gotten the odd goal for me in the past at nice times too

I like that team. I'd prefer Rooney in there allowing a better 4th mid or Baines, but it's something different.

One thing I'd say is to change Bruce to a better 3.9 player, Baker or Whittaker most likely

What's your full team? I'd go Baines and Ade. Ade is a proven goal scorer. I don't really agree with your comment re "hot and cold". When he plays regularly, he scores. He's shown that over the past few games.

I still don't get the hype about Januzaj. A good player no doubt but he's not returning points. People have called Adam Johnson a bandwagon but at least he is scoring. If Januzaj was at Norwich or Sunderland I don't think people would be bringing him in. It's the United effect.

Choices are pretty weak for a 5th mf less than 5 or 5.5 though. My team value not the best but reasonably happy with:

    Boruc
    Davis

    Mertesacker
    Baines
    Chester
    Turner (Cardiff)
    Mariappa

    Hazard
    Yaya
    Lallana
    Cabaye
    Puncheon

    Suarez
    Aguero
    Adebayor

Will rotate the 3 cheapie defenders each week; might swap Ramsey in for Cabaye if he takes off again

I don't have him in but I can see the appeal of him. He has impressed (albeit not in FF points yet) so far and is looking like a pivotal player for Uniteds run in. I can certainly see his points increasing if United start to improve, which a RVP and Rooney return should bring.

What I don't really get is people bringing him in as a 5th cheap midfielder (for a 3-4-3).
If I work him into my team I think I'd go big with it and would see him as my 4th mid and use the extra cash to strengthen the remaining 6 attackers (keeping a 5th cheap in reserve).
