So, last night after work, I was followed home from the Metro station to my apartment block. Guy came behind me into the building and started to try and talk to me. I told him to get out and close the door behind him. He didn't move. I started to get a bit nervous and I don't know what happened but suddenly, I completely lost it with him. Told him to get the fcuk out of my apartment block or I'd call the police and ran towards him swinging my bag at him.

The guy legged it and stood at the door entrance on the street. I went to close the door and he jammed his foot in so I couldn't. Again, at the top of my lungs like a total lunatic, I shouted, "MOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOT OR I WILL CALL THE FCUKING POLICE RIGHT FCUKING NOW. MOOOOOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOOOOT!!". And he did and I slammed the door shut.

I was so terrifying I even scared myself. I never knew I had it in me. I feel like I can take on the world now (Ya startin'?:mad:).

Anyone else have a story where they were in a tricky situation and surprised themselves by how they handled it?

Maybe he lived there, poor guy.

I know a woman who has done buttloads of travelling. She's lived for at least six months in more countries than most people have spent a long weekend in. She really likes Ireland because she's convinced the number of creepy stalkers and random shouty harassy street people are far fewer here.

I'd never do that tbh. I'd run before I did that. Shouting is my forté. Would you?

I wouldn't, unless I absolutely, positively had to. Being a bloke, it is so, so painful to get hit there. But if needs must (ie. I thought I was going to be seriously injured and/or killed), I would. Thankfully, such a case has never arisen.

Why were you shouting at him in English if he's Spanish and you live in Spain?
Sure the poor dope probably hadn't a clue what you were saying.

Fair play for reacting the way you did. Seems like it was both warranted and needed.

I would say be careful again when on your way home in the coming weeks. Very strange the way he followed you.

I don't mean to scare you or anything, with that line of thought, could be nothing. Just keep an eye out again is all.

It's a risky move though, you have to get in fairly close and could get grabbed before you manage to do it, specially if you don't know what you're doing. Like yourself I don't make a habit out of it :D so I don't think it'd be my first move.

    Well done OP anyways!

    so how do you say
"MOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOT OR I WILL CALL THE FCUKING POLICE RIGHT FCUKING NOW. MOOOOOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOOOOT!!".
in the tongue of the Spaniards, or is there a dialect in 'Fardnin'?
This was in fardnin. Fardnin Spain.

Fair play to you! This has happened me before and I ran like a scared bunny rabbit in very bright headlights - it is intimidating and scary so fair play for confronting the little sh1t.

Why didn't you just give him the ride? That's all he wanted.

    Fcuk sake. Women these days!

This is a reason that women should carry some money on them, a few bucks might make the attacker count his winnings and leave.

.......also, and on an entirely unrelated matter, it might speed up queues at my local supermarket.

F*cking creep. I don't want to be alarmist but that situation could have gone another way. Fair play for reacting the way you did. What sort of man actually starts that sh*t with a random woman like?

Possibly over-dramatic of me but it reminded me of that poor girl Jill Meagher being followed down the street.

Well done Legs, could very well have gone very differently if you hadn't had the balls to stand up for yourself.

It's situations like this is why I supplied pepper spray to my OH & my daughter & encourage them to use it if they feel threatened in any way.

Jesus I need to go get a coffee, I read that as "APPlied pepper spray to my OH..."

As you know yourself, 'shouting' for us is little more than whispering in Spain. I can't count the times I have thought people were having a right ol' row until I listened to what they were saying and it was just general chit-chat. Still freaks me out.

Fair play. I dunno if it's been mentioned cos I cba reading through all the comments, but if I were you I'd inform the Gardaí. I know they can't do anything because he technically didn't do anything illegal, but it's always good to have this type of thing on record. The next girl might not react like you did. My mam told me a story of her and her friends being followed home from the local pub by a weirdo when she was younger, it's a long story but basically he stalked them for ages as they tried to shake him and they knocked on a strangers door and begged him to pretend he knew them and he let them in to call my dad for a lift. She never reported it and that always made me angry cos who knows what he did next.

Telling a story like that to the Guardia in Spain would simply result in them p*ssing themselves laughing to be honest. They're notoriously nonchalant about that stuff over there.

You're right, better off not defending yourself, just in case

Just important to remember anything you bring to a dangerous situation is something that can be used against you
Better to at least have a tiny bit of self defence training to help you escape and run
