So, last night after work, I was followed home from the Metro station to my apartment block. Guy came behind me into the building and started to try and talk to me. I told him to get out and close the door behind him. He didn't move. I started to get a bit nervous and I don't know what happened but suddenly, I completely lost it with him. Told him to get the fcuk out of my apartment block or I'd call the police and ran towards him swinging my bag at him.

The guy legged it and stood at the door entrance on the street. I went to close the door and he jammed his foot in so I couldn't. Again, at the top of my lungs like a total lunatic, I shouted, "MOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOT OR I WILL CALL THE FCUKING POLICE RIGHT FCUKING NOW. MOOOOOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOOOOT!!". And he did and I slammed the door shut.

I was so terrifying I even scared myself. I never knew I had it in me. I feel like I can take on the world now (Ya startin'?:mad:).

Anyone else have a story where they were in a tricky situation and surprised themselves by how they handled it?

In a good way, of course. :)

I wonder can the term 'selfie' also be applied to people who post about themselves?

Or do we need another term like 'postie' ?

If he'd tried anything, a swift knee into the crotch will bring any man down. So just in case, in future, screaming doesn't work... a quick knee/kick in the brains and he won't be in any condition to bother you.

    Bloody pervert... good on ya.

I'd never do that tbh. I'd run before I did that. Shouting is my forté. Would you?

F*cking creep. I don't want to be alarmist but that situation could have gone another way. Fair play for reacting the way you did. What sort of man actually starts that sh*t with a random woman like?

First time here I've genuinely been scared. Yeah, they can be creepy but are usually harmless. This guy might've been too but I wasn't taking my chances.

And there was such a hullaballoo about that LUAS. I guess working underground doesn't have so many interruptions to contend with.

Yeah. Persistently creepy and harmless. I lived in a holiday town in barca so any white girl was fresh meat.

Oh I see, yeah. This kind of thing is not unheard-of in Spain and a couple of more countries. The local Miguels see a nice-looking girl from Oop North and decide to have a go, creepy or not!

I know a woman who has done buttloads of travelling. She's lived for at least six months in more countries than most people have spent a long weekend in. She really likes Ireland because she's convinced the number of creepy stalkers and random shouty harassy street people are far fewer here.

I wouldn't, unless I absolutely, positively had to. Being a bloke, it is so, so painful to get hit there. But if needs must (ie. I thought I was going to be seriously injured and/or killed), I would. Thankfully, such a case has never arisen.

Why were you shouting at him in English if he's Spanish and you live in Spain?
Sure the poor dope probably hadn't a clue what you were saying.

Fair play for reacting the way you did. Seems like it was both warranted and needed.

I would say be careful again when on your way home in the coming weeks. Very strange the way he followed you.

I don't mean to scare you or anything, with that line of thought, could be nothing. Just keep an eye out again is all.

It's a risky move though, you have to get in fairly close and could get grabbed before you manage to do it, specially if you don't know what you're doing. Like yourself I don't make a habit out of it :D so I don't think it'd be my first move.

    Well done OP anyways!

    Was shouting at him Spanish.

    so how do you say
"MOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOT OR I WILL CALL THE FCUKING POLICE RIGHT FCUKING NOW. MOOOOOVE YOUR FCUKING FOOOOOT!!".
in the tongue of the Spaniards, or is there a dialect in 'Fardnin'?
This was in fardnin. Fardnin Spain.

Fair play to you! This has happened me before and I ran like a scared bunny rabbit in very bright headlights - it is intimidating and scary so fair play for confronting the little sh1t.

Why didn't you just give him the ride? That's all he wanted.

This is a reason that women should carry some money on them, a few bucks might make the attacker count his winnings and leave.

.......also, and on an entirely unrelated matter, it might speed up queues at my local supermarket.
