Anyone ever rent a car in Crete?
I'll be heading there (or Zante) in early August and I'd like to rent a car for a few days to explore a little bit.
Not sure if I can though as I'm only 23 but I do have my full licence?

I rented one in Zakinthos in 2008 would have been 24 then just used a small local company at resort was no problem. Got an old saxo but it did the job to explore the island and get to waterpark!!

    Nice one, lads.
New game is finding the faster car for 3 days under €200. :pac:

Dying for a bit of water park action actually, it's been years since I've been to one!

In Austria I was offered an sls for 690 a day. Still don't know why I didn't take hand and all for a day :)

In fairness, that is HUGE money to be spending just to drive a car for a day. I know it's an SLS but if you can afford that to drive it for a day, you could afford to buy the fvcken thing :pac:

    I eat a lot on holidays. :D

Yeah, I can't see myself spending on anything like that, not just yet anyway. Haha

You'll have no hassle. Loads of small rental crowds and they really don't give a feck either. Call around to a few to compare prices though, expensive doesn't mean good cars. Most are absolute sheds - got Getz a few times and it was fine.

Yeah, a Getz or the likes is what I'm expecting. I'd rather spend the money on activities and beer than a temp car and petrol.
I'll have a nose around once I hit the town and see where's doing the best deals.

Sure reception can help when I get there, mostly I was just worried about my age being an issue.
Strict enough over here aren't they? 25 and a 2 years full licence?

I think that's it anyway, yeah. Same in the UK too. Was pretty disappointed last May to discover that I couldn't rent a car for a day when in Edinburgh.

Was told a couple of companies will hire to a 23 yr old, no good when 21. Enquired to some agency as all the big names were telling me 25.

ADAC, Germany's biggest motoring association, has admitted fixing its previously respected car of the year award by lying about how many people cast votes in the contest.

It emerged on Sunday that communications head Michael Ramstetter had bumped up the number of votes cast by ten times to make the VW Golf 2014's car of the year. Bild am Sonntag reported Ramstetter claimed 34,299 were cast for the VW Golf. In reality it was 3,409.

There is no way in hell I probably will ever be able to afford one.
€700 at the time wouldn't have broken the bank and to have driven one of my all time favourite machines. .

    I think I missed out :(

Rent a quad. You'll enjoy it more, and get to see a lot more of the island.

And I thought I was being cheap when I didn't want to rent a 360 Modena for that kind of money for 3 days! :D
    And no age limit too.

I doubt there's any insurance on it.

Every vehicle in Poland is insured, even one that's off the road - it's a legal requirement.

Not sure if my sarcasm detector is broken or not :confused:

That's a hideous looking thing! Looks like the body kits the boys were putting onto their civics 5-10 years ago along with some massive plastic wheel arches. Don't get me started on the wheels! THe standard car looks quite nice so can't imagine what would make someone do that to it.

In other BMW related news, recently I've seen a few 4 door 6 series'. Good god those things look good in the flesh! (crap in photos for some reason). First BM I have really liked the look of since the E34 :)

Agreed. All rentals in EU must have minimum of 3rd party insurance as standard I think.
