Will this Government ever manage grow the balls to come to grips with the 'Snouts in the Trough' attitude of the so-called elite in this country?

No problems at all clamping down on a poor 'divil' on the dole getting a days work now and then.

There are reports that the Gardai may be called in, I'd say all the CEOs are trembling.

Bertie Ahern sure knows how to pick them.....he was another pal of Ahern appointed to the post.

I have to say Shane Ross is absolutely brilliant to listen to in the Public Accounts Committee. He is ripping the CRC a new one whenever he gets a chance.

No mention of the Gardaí being involved.

    More background:

The HSE’s Barry O’Brien informed the committee that further audits of CRC spending will be finished by the end of the first quarter of this year.
He said that all remaining matters will be examined and that the HSE “may seek the assistance of An Garda Siochána” over issues that arise.

I am afraid those staff on normal salaries levels and served by charities will suffer from this and inevitable drop in contributions.

But I will only be giving to those charities who stick to good codes of ethics and conduct.

The same political characters always get these plum director roles.

Will any of this secret top up money be given back to charity. Could CAB get involved?

I have been a supporter of CRC for many years. They will not get another cent from me until all the money stolen from the donations fund is paid back by these greedy scumbags......every last cent of it.:(

Its a disgrace. It totals 1/2 of the revenue generated by the bear/pin sales..to think that could have gone to help a very ill child or adult instead of resting in some Khoonts account

I very rarely giving a sh!t on about these threads but to be honest listening/reading about this makes my blood boil

Disgrace to society and its a bigger disgrace that the government couldnt really give to fiddlers

the CRC is banjaxed over this, terrible shame over a small few.

If you dont pay the property tax the revenue go into your bank account and take it but they cant do anything about this??

    This is today's news.

Sadly it will all be forgotten about in a few days and Paul Kiely will sail into the sunset with his our 740K just like all the others have done in the past.

I listened to the RTE drivetime breakdown of todays committee roasting, it was comical and depressing to listen to hapless spoofer Brian Conlan (?) attempt to explain how he got the job of running the CRC.

Nope, where on earth did you get that idea from? We troop out to elect individuals who belong to parties (or no party) one or more of which may come together to form a government.

Love seeing Shane Ross grabbing these boys by the collar, pointing out in black and white their total corruption and scumbaggary while they squirm and murmur sickeningly poor excuses.

The man is wholly credible and it's disgusting that he is the is only one real voice in the dail fighting this scourge. All the rest twiddle their thumbs and shuffle their feet as they know, true be known, they are all on the take. Sitting pretty up to their ears with overpaid advisers and laughable expenses.

I hate the rabble rabble rabble get the bankers stuff but a times it is often understated to call things a travesty. The whole debacle with the charities is horrendous. The whole thing has turned people against worthy charities and donating to them. This bad taste will linger and the people fundraising will have their work cut out to gain back an iota of trust from the people. This will have a massive knock on effect and the big wig CEOs won't lose a single second of sleep as they are tanning themselves on their third holiday of the year in Barbados.

Let's have a foundation to help disabled kids.....great stuff.

Let's have the guy in charge leech as much as he can from it.........shameless,scumbag stuff.

Surely now with the revelation that he hid more money than he was 'entitled to',the Gardai have a case against him for fraud & embezzlement.

If any Joe/Josephine Soap, collected for charity and 'stole' money the way those who ran the CRC did, they'd be jailed. But in this country, the more you take the better off you are.

All this charity stuff is a cop out by the government, who should be doing all this work and paying for it by extra taxation. That can't be done here because the rich would be severely tapped, unlike the present situation where poor suckers pay disproportionately to charities.

Jonathan Irwin put it in perspective on prime time this evening, as regards hours taken from the needy, to support the pensions and expenses for these low life parasites. This is Ireland after all for the parasite to reach the top.

Gardai can investigate and charge people themselves

Doubt anything will be done as there was a confidentiality agreement on the extra amount
From RTE website "He said he was not at the board meeting that decided it, had not read the minutes of that meeting and was unaware of the confidentiality agreement"

Anyone else think this is just the tip of the iceberg on the level of corruption here ?

Hopefully this will roll till the EU and local elections and destroy the necessary.

I think it,s a f***ing disgrace what going on in the C.R.C. they should all be made pay that public money back and if they have spent it there homes should be taken off them and sold to recoup the losses . they should be ashamed of them self they don,t be long in society . all of the other charity,s are going to suffer because of this scandal .
