Looks like Barkley is out for up to 6 weeks.

What's the story with him and his price freeze? I see he should have dropped last night but didn't.

I'd favour Lallana if it's next week only. Spurs may find it tough at Swansea.

That's a pretty strong team. To my mind, you should look at moving on the following:

    Gazzinaga
    Turner
    Cabaye
    Ward-Prowse

McGregor's away to Norwich, so you could bench Gazzinaga for this week.

Turner is away to both Manchester clubs next, and isn't going to score much long-term, so I'd ship him out.

Newcastle and Southampton have West Ham and Sunderland respectively. Both are away, but against pretty poor sides, so should pick up something. Ward-Prowse not guaranteed to play though.

If you're making one transfer, I'd go Turner -> Kolorov (home to Cardiff). I'd say he's likely to rise some more, so you might even make a bit of dough ahead of the wild card. Get rid of the others then.

Looks like he will drop tonight.

The toe is only fractured instead of broken, so shouldn't take as long as expected to come back. Depending on which newspaper you read he could be back as soon as the 28th Jan

I wonder if McGeady's arrival will cut into his playing time

Have Bony because I had a feeling he would run riot vs United but he didn't...don't know if I should keep him or swap for Lambert or Rodriguez. He would be a great differential and if he shows the kind of form he did against United in the FA cup game he could nab one or two quite frequently.

As a matter of interest points wise what is the difference for you if you had of wildcarded in the end.

    Team without Transfers
    Rooney 0
    Walcott 0

    Chico 1
    Ward-Prowse 1
    Chester 2
    Total 4
    GW Total 65

    Team Used
    Mertesacker 2
    Ozil 2
    Negredo 6
    Points Hit -8
    Total 2
    GW Total 63
    Gameweek Rank: 1,279,966

    Potential Wildcard

    Boruc (Gazzaniga) 6
    Mertesacker (Chico) 2
    Ozil (Walcott) 2
    Negredo (Rooney) 6
    Lallana (Cabaye) 10
    Parker (Ward-Prowse) 1
    Total 26
    GW Total 88
    Gameweek Rank: 16,660

Was also thinking Sagna instead of Mertesacker to leaving some funds for Aguero. Would I have started Boruc or just accepted McGregor as my only choice at the time? It didn’t cross my mind at all to start Boruc when I was weighting up using the WC. It a pre-emptive move to save me a transfer down the line. I’ll assume best case scenario for my potential team though and that I would have realised Boruc was going to start or not play at all. I would have done better that GW using the WC, I knew that at the time but would it have set me up better for the rest of the season or purely a short term injection of points?

Arsenal’s fixture list and the amount of away games make me nervous about Ozil & Mertesacker. Better value for money could be found elsewhere, e.g. Sagna & Kolarov. Yaya Toure is beginning to carry knocks into games. Negredo’s strike rate away from home is 2 for the season so far! Parker is a solid starter but picks up a lot of yellow cards. Not getting rid of Ben Turner would have caused me ire also. Boruc & Lallana probably are the two that will provide the best value for money for the longest period of time.

That’s 6 players that I wouldn’t have been 100% happy with just after playing a WC. Would my doubts have turned into real problems? Only hindsight can tell and nobody can tell me now or after the next GW which was truly the best course of action to take.

Anyone taking a gamble on new signings? McGeady, Jelavic, Guidetti?

Jelavic looks too expensive, but if he can recapture his Rangers/early Everton form he could be a great source of points. Guidetti has a big reputation, but hard to know if he'll get much game time.

Dont rate McGeady at all tbh, surprising transfer that one I think.

I took out Mutch and will bring in Gnabry for this week, I'll take a chance on him.

Sterling/Januzaj but alternating..... I wouldn't generally fancy either of them away from home

Silva has gone yellow flagged in FPL, and as above they are both confirmed to be rested for the Blackburn game. Also gives more hints that Aguero will be back this weekend.

    Pretty much as expected.

Interesting stuff. Im neither here nor there on when is the best time to wildcard. I think no matter when you wildcard issues are going to arise i.e an injury to a player you bring in, or someone you didn't bring in hitting form. For those that wildcarded last week as you have shown probably got an initial boost as a lot of the more popular choices delivered hazard, eriksen, llallana, gerrard, ade. Those that didnt wildcard will now know to avoid turner, boruc/saints defence are probably back on the radar, with people less likely to go with ozil.

I agree, but it would be interesting if you went back in Feb/March and worked this out again. I would be delighted with a 25 point difference between my WC and non-WC teams, I would be amazed if you end up with a better advantage than this. Also coupled with the price increases you would have taken advantage of... Whether the WC team you would have picked last week would have been the right one long-term compared to the one you eventually do pick is another question, but even if it took some points hits over the next few weeks to get to that point its unlikely you would chip away too much at your 25 point advantage. People over-value the WC sometimes, its not a magic points boost! I would snap your hand off for a 15 point gain with a WC, let alone 25.

25 points with 16 GW's left is nothing tbh. I've hauled in 150 point gaps in private leagues already this season in much short spaces of time and I'm confident of gearing up for another purple patch once the schedule gets back to abit of normality.

Took an 8 point hit last week due to the injuries and rotation. Podolski was such a fail so took him straight out...

    Transfers IN
    Santon (1)
Podolski (0, sub would have scored 1)
Walcott (0, sub would have scored 1)
    TOTAL=3

    Transfers OUT
    Baines (12)
    Adebayor (5)
    Ozil (2)
    TOTAL=19

    19-8-3= 8 Net Points

So how about another hit this week? 3 of the top 7, including 2 I see as solid players have wildcarded already and so I think the following transfer would be a huge differential.

    Ozil > Wilshire/Cabaye
    JRodriguez>Sturridge

    That would leave me with...

    Mignolet
    Metesacker - Baines - Ward
    Wilshire - Toure - Silva - Hazard
    Sturrdige - Suarez - Adebayor

    Current team:

    Fonte - Coleman - Mertesacker

    Colbeck - Lallana - Toure - Oscar

    Suarez - Lukaku - Negredo

    Have 1.4 in the bank.

Would it be madness to transfer Oscar and Negredo out and Ramsey and Aguero in? Would have to take a 4 point hit. Would it be better to hold out until the following week and wait until I have two transfers to play with, make sure they are both fit and playing?

I'd do it. Aguero will rise in price if he plays tonight even off the bench, I would expect by 0.2m before the weekend. Ramsey isn't going to drop anymore and should play at the weekend so worth getting back in I'd say. I would think you want Aguero long term over Negredo, and with Aguero set to rise before Negredo, I don't see a need to wait to pull the trigger. Take the hit and get him in. You can always work Oscar back in later.

No, not madness but wait a bit before you do it...need more solid team news.

As far as I know, Toure is a slight back injury and he is likely to play. Not sure about Silva

Why would you think Toure is likely to play? I have him and I hope he plays, but not sure I'd class it as likely. I'd be 50/50 atm.
